Why don't people realize this? Common sense!

I hope Apple solves these issues for individuals outside the 30 day return window. Both my fiancé and I are in the process of returning our iPhone 4s due to the inconsistent proximity sensor. Apple hasn't commented on the time frame of a fix so it would be foolish to continue using the defective phones when they can still be returned. We can always purchase the iPhone again once Apple and their users complete the device's testing phase.

I haven't mentioned it in a while, but you guys DO know that the iPhone 3G has one proximity sensor and in the iPhone 3Gs they ADDED a second proximity sensor for better operation.

I keep mentioning that if the sensors were so adjustable via software, then I do not think Apple would increase cost and ADD a second one on the iPhone 3Gs.

Just think about it and use your common sense.

I think this is hilarious. It's like all the newbiies come along and go through an outrage followed by a denial process, and just as they are about to reach that penny drop moment, more newbies come along and go through the same process. It's like watching monkeys playing with teapots. Somewhere one or two of the newbies will finally get it, the penny will drop and maybe they'll hang around and try to get others to diitch their phones or atleast make informed decisions instead of fantasizing about their little magic rainbow fix, and the rest disappear and never return. All the while we get a new 'green' crop of newbies with their ignorance, their denial, and their rage.

I wonder where the AH is with the fix that he claims he's got. He certainly shut the F up quick, and if it's true that Apple pulled his account and shut him down, that certainly explains all the sh't he was talking about this issue is now fixed.

It's all go fun at the end of the day, and once again I think Apple have played this just perfectly. They know it's a persistant topic. They know they can't fix it. They also know it's not a major media interest or a n issue that affects many people. So they leak the little GFY message slowly in an out of the way place, and hey presto, they issue is no longer an anticipated topic needing addressed on Wednesday, and no-one is expecting it to be fixed this side of Christmans. iOS4.1 comes out and for those with a problem after that, FU. Go buy another phone or wait for the new model next year.

All I can really say it, you were all warned. The writing was on the wall a long time back, but a lot of people just didn't believe this could be true. Sooner or later people will eventually get around to asking themselves, "Why do I have an issue with my phone when I hold it like this, and why to most people not have the problem I'm having, and how do they hold their phones to avoid it." Then maybe people will evolve.

As Apple would say, "Don't hold it like that!"

This is ridiculous.

LOL. Make sure you buy yourself an in car charger, and extra charger for work and a spare battery, and don't forget to change you e-mail password, your banking passwords and all your confidential data ever month. There is zero security with Android, no credible anti-virus, and a trojan threat that is growing very fast.

Do you run antivirus on your laptop or PC?
Why?
So why would you run an openb source phone any different?

As to getting this issue fixed.... It is not fixable. Did you not get that already? Has the penny not dropped yet? It is designed into the hardware like the antenna issue. You have to learn (Yes, learn! You know, with the brain) to hold your phone in a way that doesn't cause the problem. Like the majority of iPhone 4 owners do.

I wonder where all the flamers are? Mustn't be home from work yet? Or away in their caravans f'ing up everyone's Bank Holiday mayhaps?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this same thing has been going on since the phone was released in June. Way back then there was rumor of a fix coming out in 3 days and then by the top of that next week.

You can probably guess what happened... Then the wait...

I returned my phone and went back to the 3Gs two days before my return period elapsed. At first it was a little disappointing as I had gotten used to the sharp screen and the nice camera features, but after a few days, I didn't even miss the iP4. It was like I never had it so I didn't feel like I was missing anything...except the face dialing, muting, random calling, etc. One thing for sure I did feel less anxiety and like I had gotten my sanity back.

Now maybe you and others can see where myself, mbassoc2003, MichaelEmpire, and several others that have long disappeared from the forum have been coming from. We are not trolls. We have been trying to help people make decisions based on the reality and not the false hope and promise that some supposedly "informed" posters have been making and leading others on.

Like it or not, this IS the best selling iPhone that Apple has ever made and it seems that this issue is NOT stopping the sales at all.

Make your own decisions based on the reality of today and/or what you can live with if it can't be fixed. It will save you a lot of trouble down the line.

Good luck to everybody!

Here's a positive way of looking at this for all you head buriers...

Maybe Apple leaked this bit of negativity so that when they release iOS4.1 and it fixes the PS issue completely, they will be praised for the geniuses they really are and all your faith will be restored. LOL

That's probably what's happening. The woman in Oz doesn't know what she's talking about. The fix is coming in iOS4.1.

Michael gets no respect from anyone that has two or more functioning brain cells. At first it looked like he might be a troll with a vested interest in making Apple look bad. He crossed that line long ago making libelous statements.

I'm assuming Apple has looked into who he is and decided A) He has nothing B)He is legally ******** C) Both A + B.

My money is on C. Apple has a good reputation of taking care of its customers. Accusing them of fraud just makes someone look stupid.

Until Apple releases their fix there is (as previously posted) and App called call guard that lets you use the phone if the PS issue is affecting you.

Well said.
And far more diplomatic that I could be.

But so far Michael has been correct in every aspect. You may not like his style, but he has been correct.

Apple on the other hand hasn't fixed or given a definite as to when they will fix/(adjust).

Not sure what you are implying..?? (track record??)

They have not always been totally forthcoming with bad news. Do your own research. You will see.

btw - this is not fraud. There are millions of satisfied customers that don't have the problem or it does not affect them based on the way they use the phone.

Apple has said, "If you do not like the phone, return it undamaged within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked"

How could any of this be fraud if you have a phone that does/did not work for you and you choose to keep it past the return window?

Way back at the beginning, M was doing so good research and providing valued data. But come mid-July he returned his iP4s and then he did go a bit nuts. I tried to address this above. He seems to have gone off on a crusade and when he rants his english drops away and it makes him even more crazy. But believe me, at the beginning he was coherent and considered and scientific in his posts. The crusade is a recent development, but the message (the problem is a hardware issue that isn't going to be fixed) has always been present, and to his credit, his predictions have not yet been wrong. He may come across as nuts, but he is right on the button.

I can't wait to see what he's gonna post about the 'no fix coming' statement from Apple.
