Is my iPad order payment denied because I am sending it to my son in a different state?

Ordering an iPad. Received a message that my payment was declined with two separate cards. Wondering why?

Call your card issuer(s) and ask why it was denied.

Card issuers are very sensitive to “pricy” electronics purchases as it’s a prime target for fraud.

You can often apprise them of upcoming “special” arrangements for a particular purchase; after which they’ll “Approve” when the charge is resubmitted.

The shipping address may need to match the address to which your Credit Card is registered.

Your Card Issuer, as part of the payment authorisation, will often check that the shipping address matches your billing address - in particular for high value transactions. This measure is intended to reduce opportunity for fraud. If someone with access to you card details attempts to make purchase, unless the consignment is addressed to you, the transaction will fail.

Clearly, a fraudster will not risk detection by sending a fraudulent purchase to the owner of the Credit Card.
