How do you open a 2nd window in photos on Mac

I'm trying to drag and drop photos from one album to another. I need to add it in a particular location within the target album. I don't want to drop it in the target album and then switch to viewing the target album to then move it to the desired location (which is how I have been doing). That's great for one or two photos, but not practical for many photos. I'd like to simply open a second window where I can view both albums and drag and drop easily.

Or is there an alternative app that can manage the same albums maintained by the Photos app?

The closest thing to do what you want to is to use the free version of PowerPhotos and open it and Photos in side-by-side windows (if your computer screen warrants that type of approach).

You cannot open a second window in Photos.

There are many other apps that can manage your images, but you'll be re-creating your albums in them. If you do want explore other options what would your budget be?

WIth iOS companion and web galleries and so on, you'll be subscribing to an app and service like Lightroom CC or Mylio, and they will run to close to $100 per annum. As for decent, as you might expect at a cost like that, both apps far exceed Photos.

I could spend up to around $50 if it's decent. The alternative apps need to have iOS companion apps. Right now with Photos, I can view the albums in all my iOS devices and via the iCloud web site.
