Trying to recover old itunes playlists

I pretty much abandoned itunes a few years ago and somehow my itunes app disappeared from my pc. (yes pc)

So yesterday I received my new iPad M2 Pro and now I'm trying to recover my music. I was on the line with Apple tech support for a half hour or so and she was unable the help me retrieve my tunes.

I am able to log into my old apple id account but they were nowhere to be found.

So, later in the day, I remembered I have an ancient ipod and I charged it up and all of my music is still there. Is anyone aware of a way to transfer these playlists to my new iPad?

Thank You

Hello Phil Vanderloo,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Congratulations on your new iPad. We understand that you want to restore your iTunes library or have the music from your iPod on your new iPad.

You can use the steps here to restore your iTunes library: Back up and restore your iTunes library on your PC - Apple Support

"Restore your library from a backup

You can restore your iTunes library from your external drive to your computer. If you're restoring an iTunes Library from a different computer, make sure that your new computer has the latest version of iTunes.

  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Go to "This PC," then click your external drive.
  3. Select your iTunes folder, then right-click and choose Copy.
  4. Go to the location on your computer where you want your iTunes library, then right-click and choose Paste.
  5. Hold down the Shift key while opening iTunes.
  6. When you see a message that asks you to Choose iTunes Library, click Choose Library.
  7. Choose the location where you copied your iTunes folder.
  8. Choose the iTunes Library.itl file inside.
  9. Click Open."

Those steps might help you if you have access to the library on a PC. Otherwise, it is not possible to extract media content from an iPod or other iOS device.

These steps may help. Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
