I was added as a legacy but I don’t see the access key

My mom added me as her legacy contact and sent me a message via iMessage. But the link simply takes me to an about page. I have nowhere to accept. On her end it says “access key has not been saved”. I have updated (16.6.1) and restarted my phone to no avail.

See especially "Share the access key with your Legacy Contact" here.

The instructions aren’t working and not describing what is happening. I’m a software engineer and can’t work it out.

My mum added me as a Legacy Contact.

I got two messages:

“Brent, I’ve added you as my legacy contact. I'm sharing an access key with you, which you can use to access my iCloud data in the event of my death.”

and a link title “View Details” with a url that redirects it an to an Apple support page: Request access to an Apple account as a Legacy Contact – Apple Support (AU)

There is nothing for me to accept. On my mum’s phone it is showing “Access key has not been saved” under my name on the Legacy Contacts page in Settings on her phone.

What is interesting is that Apple Support page is slightly different but similar to the support page you linked to.

Whats going on?? It sounds like I’m meant to get access to something that I can accept or decline. But I’m not getting that. Is there another way to view the request and accept or decline it??
