Bluetooth Buds at different volumes on different iphones

Hey Guys,

My wife and I have exactly the same iPhones (currently 14 Pro Max). Since the beginning of time, no matter what iPhones we had, the music volume that comes through on her phone has always been louder than mine. We can play exactly the same song on exactly the same earbuds, car, BT Speaker etc and the sound from her phone is always louder and this is the case with anything we connect to via bluetooth.

I have copied her settings but this does not help. Her music is always louder, sucks for me, things get real.

So does anyone know where I can look, at what settings or some tip or trick that can help me get more or the same as she does, out of my earbuds?

You can try to isolate it to a particular app. Do Podcasts or Audio books have the same problem? If they do then it might be the headphone safety feature, which lowers volume if you use earbuds a lot. It will also do the same if you use, for example, external speakers with your phone but don't tell the phone that they are not earbuds/headphones.

If it's only Music then there are a couple of things that can affect volume in Apple's Music App. Make sure they are the same on both phones

Settings>Music>Sound Check - (this will try to make all the tracks the same volume)

Settings>Music>Sound Check - EQ

If you synch your phones with a different Music library from your wife (on a Mac or PC) make sure that individual songs don't have EQ applied to them on one of them.

If this has been an ongoing issue, then what we'd recommend is to have your iPhone physically inspected. Being as the two devices have a clear difference as well as occurs over multiple outputs, that points to a hardware-related concern.
