I set up a new Apple ID for my child to use to message friends on the iPad. Hers is the only Apple ID signed into the iPad, and it's set up under my Family Sharing account (she is a minor). How do I get her iMessages to connect to my Mac (where I am signed in as the Family Sharing Organizer) so I can monitor her messaging?

What you're describing isn't possible unless you sign in with your child's Apple ID on your Mac for Messages. Steps on doing this can be found in Set up Messages on Mac - Apple Support
