No. they are not. They are water resistant. NOT waterproof. Specifically they are rated to 6 meters of water resistance. That does NOT mean you can submerge them to 6 meters. You should NEVER EVER submerge a device that is rated at less than 50 meters water resistance. That goes for phones, watches, anything at all.

The depth rating is done under laboratory conditions. It is not a reflection of the depth to which a device can actually be submerged. This has caused confusion in the watch world for decades. Unfortunately, most people don’t understand how those ratings work.

Nowhere did I advocate "intentionally" submerging an iPhone15. Simply clarifying the 15s water resistance which is explicitly stated as "These models have a rating of IP68 under IEC standard 60529 (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes)" Nowhere did I recommend intentional submersion, however, nothing is wrong with citing Apple's own information that an inadvertent drop into water (in a depth of 6 meters of less, is unlikely to cause damage to a physically uncompromised iPhone 15. Not sure where you pulled this info from or how dated it is but here is a link to Apple Support's website page which specifically addresses the water resistance of every model of iPhone ever made since the 7, including the 15s. OK. Do as you please. It's your phone. we've advised everyone here that NO iPhone ever made is waterproof. If you choose to take your phone in situations it was NEVER designed to be in, that's your choice. NO, not unless you're prepared to purchase a new iPhone if you do take it underwater to take a video. iPhone is NOT waterproof as has already been explained in this thread. While that technically is not waterproof (due to time limit) it certainly qualifies as highly water resistant. While I certainly wouldn’t use it as dive camera, I also wouldn’t worry about fumbling it in a swimming pool as long as you retrieve it promptly. Apple does state that scratches and dents can obviously impact its water resistance.

That is just COMPLETEY wrong. Apple specifically says in this article NOT to submerge your iPhone or swim with it. The water resistance rating is measured in Lab Controlled conditions, which simply do NOT match the real world. Suggesting it's OK to swim or dunk and iPhone in a pool is unfortunate advice and if the phone is damaged as a result of this advice, a user will find they have ZERO warranty against liquid damage and will be paying to have the phone replaced.

There is no model of iPhone that is waterproof. While marketed as water resistant, there is no coverage for water damage.

No iPhone is waterproof, and any damage that might be caused by moisture is not covered by the regular AppleCare warranty.
