On my iPhone 14 pro, the instagram app seems to have a different notification tone, as opposed to what I selected to be the default text tone (note). The other apps are just fine with the tone I selected. I have gone through the settings but to no avail. I just want Instagram to also have the same notification tone as all other apps.

The default notification tone has changed in iOS 17.
It was Tri-tone since the iPhone was originally introduced, and now it's Rebound.
"Default" means if an app didn't assign its custom tone for its own notifications or gives no option to change it inside the app, the default iOS tone will be used.
So it's not Text Tone from Settings > Sounds &Haptics nor anyone else from there.
Some examples:
WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal — all they give a choice;
Instagram, Facebook and most others — not.
The new Rebound tone is significantly quieter, many people are not happy with it.
It is/was no way to change it. Now live with it.
P.S.: It's funny, the Health app still notifies me with tri-tone.
It doesnt, when going to setings and notification almos every app has the option to change notification tone but apple “forgot” to put it on meta apps
The fixed notification sound that comes with iOS 17 is very disgusting. It turned into an android phone notification sound. You cannot recognize your own phone. Apple should fix this notification sound.
Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. Let me clear the air on some replies that mentioned complaining about the issue. Complaining wasn’t the intention, rather, I faced an issue that I thought was fixable but maybe I didn’t know how to fix it. Thus, I decided to ask others on the community about it. Regardless, I understand that it’s more of an app development issue, than an OS issue. 😁
Worst notification tone..even also those new ringtones after updating it to ios 17 it has very low sound..and about the instagram tone is that really a tone?? I don’t know if its from ur side or from insta bt if it is from urs plz do fix it..cuz many of us are getting this tone after updating the phone…

You are NOT speaking with Apple. This is a user to user only forum. So we can't fix anything. And Apple doesn't own Instagram, so if you're not satisfied with the tone, contact them. Apple has nothing to do with the tone 3rd party application developers implement.
My notification sound is also set to default after installing Ios 17 and that siund is very disgusting and not able to change. So we request apple to fix it as soon as possible as this problem is very annoying
Wow, finally discovered after nearly a week that i'm not the only **** one with this problem.
this issue is very frustrating and annoying, unbelievable to think that in 2023 i can't pick my own **** sound preference for a notification.
instagram is **** with the new rebound sound, why dont they fix this?
Contact Apple to bring back the old default notification Tri Tone or give us the option to change to what we want. Yes I know Apple doesn’t see this. But if you call or chat with them to change it back.

Actually, it is. Plenty of apps set their own notification sounds or give options for notification sounds.

I just downloaded IOS 17.3.1 and while it was downloading I was also looking for a way to fix the notification issue, and I was reading this thread and someone said the app goes by the default sound, and i was also going through settings to find the default, to no avail, and when i checked after this recent download i found it and was able to change the default to note! I don’t know if this is a new thing or i just found it now, but it works.
The fixed notification sound for what? Instagram? Complain to Instagram. That’s up to them.
In my case not only instagram. X (twitter) and tiktok also have a weird notification sound.
