How do you disable Touch ID to log into the google app on an iPhone 8 Plus. It’s so annoying.

Disabling Touch ID for One App:

Annoying? How so? Using Touch ID, you would have your credentials entered for you. If you do not want this to be showing up, then you have to remove these credentials from your Web browser's settings, or disable Touch ID, all together. You cannot disable it per site.

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Touch ID & Passcode
  3. Tap: Password Auto Fill (so the it is greyed-out)

You are welcome.

Reinstall the App:

Uninstall the gmail app and log back in to your account using your username and password.

"So, I deleted the GMAIL app from my iPhone and installed a new one and it still requires me to use Touch ID when using the GOOGLE app. How do I stop that from happening, as nothing seems to work."

Google Accessing Touch ID:

Note that Developers of app can't design their apps to access the iOS; that would be considered hacking and piracy. So, they have software agreements with Apple to allow their apps to interact with its features. IOW: This is part of the app, unless the option to turn this off from within it is part of the written app code. So,, if you just can't disable something (Touch ID), then that means disabling it is just not a feature of the app.

I appreciate your response, but let me be more clear what I need. I do like the security of Touch ID Authentication to open my phone and the use of certain apps, but I would like to disable this requirement when I want to use my GOOGLE web browser ONLY. I opted to set it up sometime ago and had I known how annoyed I would be every time I want to open my google app I have to Touch ID, I would have never done it. I have tried everything to disable it when I launch GOOGLE, but nothing works. If you have a solution, please let me know. I am using an iPhone 8 Plus if it makes a difference. Thank you for your help.

"Goggle thumb ID: One more question before I delete the GMAIL app. It says that all of my data will be lost. Does that mean all of my folders as well?
