Uninstalling and reinstalling may reinstall whatever device driver is missing, not properly registered, etc. You may need to reset the trust settings on your device. See About the 'Trust This Computer' alert message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, particularly the section If you need help with the alert message.
