Safari on my iMac keeps giving me this error message for any secure web site. This is running Yosemite 10.10.5. Safari version 10.1.2. I can’t download any updates because safari doesn’t connect.

Ah yes, a better browser, more up to date might work...
But then 10.10.5 is quite old...

Naw, it's not damaged, it's just that you have an old copy, there are 2 cures...
If you’re short of bandwidth or data… Disconnect from the Internet & set the Date back to 2015, then you can run the Installer, so expired Certificates are not expired.
Sorry am not able to rotate the image. When I go to software update it says “no updates available”. I want to update to the OS that’s the best one supported by this hardware but can’t get to first base because the safari browser cannot connect. Firefox and chrome don’t download citing the old OS version.
the iMac is otherwise in great shape so I don’t want to junk it.
I downloaded the 10.10.5 again.
Then went to the iTunes link to download ElCapitan. When I tried to run it, it said this version is corrupted and cannot be verified. Asked me to delete it and re-download it.
I am doing it. But in the meantime. The blurb says compatibility is OS X 10.6.8 or later. My current OS version is 10.5.5.
how do I upgrade this? This seems to be so old that nothing works. No browser downloads, many web sites don’t open. I am stuck.
Thanks. I can’t even open gmail on the iMac now. So typed out the full URL and now the macOSx dmg is downloading. Fingers crossed that it lets me upgrade further. Will get back on the progress.

I have got this the second time. I am sure it’s not a corrupted version. The OS version must not support it. How can I upgrade from 10.5.5 to 10.6.8
No. Not short of data. Plenty of data. I downloaded then deleted then downloaded again. I will set the date to 2015 and run it again. Thanks. Will let u know.

Thanks to archive dot org I now have Yosemite 10.10.5. The El Capitan download still is nix.
