Disable Night Mode in watchOS 10

Honestly, I'm not seeing the improvements with this update. It's not easy to see the apps I want to see anymore and now I'm seeing this annoying night mode watch face when I don't want to. My question is how can I turn this feature off permanently? Turning the crown doesn't keep it off. Thanks in advance for helping out this currently annoyed and disappointed user.

In the dark, the ambient light sensor on Apple Watch Ultra now automatically activates Night Mode on the Modular Ultra or Wayfinder watch faces. You can turn it off by editing the watch face, and in the “Night Mode” slide (section on the iPhone companion app) turn it from Auto to Off.

You can disable it from watch app on your iphone by selecting the watch face you have in "My faces" to edit it, swipe down you will find "Night mode" probably on Auto, select off and it will disable it. You can do the same from your apple watch by long pressing the watch face, pressing edit, swipe right or left till you reach night mode, then select off to disable it.

I found it by going to my phone to the watch app and taking off focus from mirror my phone. Because it wasn’t mirroring my phone, which had night mode off. So turning it off in the Apple Watch App gets rid of that stupid thing. I wish I never download it just update it’s horrible.

I don’t like the items that they have when you swipe up. They have no use to me at all! Sorry for my rant on your question.

I’ve found a bit of a workaround:

First, turn off Night Mode on your preferred watch face (as I imagine you already have). Now, add another Wayfinder face, with Night Mode set to On, and move that face next to your preferred face in your list of faces. Then simply swipe to the ‘Night Mode On’ face when you need it.

I know, it would be much better if they figured out a way to bring back the original method, but in the meantime, this isn’t a bad solution.

Totally agree with the comments on lack of usability now Wayfarer has been turned to auto night mode or you literally have to go in and edit the face. Apple’s idea of low light and mine are not the same - the red only works if you’re properly in darkness and eyes adjusted - great for overnight but useless whilst awake. Incredibly annoying to take it off crown control.

So wait, if it's not set to Auto, there's no manual way to turn it on anymore? That would be insane. Somebody please tell me it's not true...

I agree with several other commenters that watchOS 10 seems to be a pretty amazing step backwards in a lot of ways. You gotta wonder who's paying attention at Apple anymore. Have they just gotten too big to have real dialog and debate between the developers and the UX/UI experts?
