iOS 17 wallpapers blurry at top

Hi I updated to iOS 17 yesterday and my wallpapers are getting blurred on the top, my wallpapers from the top seem to be fine yet but I found beautiful new wallpapers and it’s ruined because of the top blur. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Figured out how to fix it on my IPhone 11. Go to settings, then Wallpaper, then do New Wallpaper…it lets you pick a photo for the wallpaper…then you can click over on the Home Screen and change it if you want. But at the very bottom right hand corner you should see a raindrop looking image that says “blur”. If you click that it removes the blur from the image.

I have often been frustrated with Apple engineers fixing things that aren’t broken! Personally, I think Apple has a large staff of well paid engineers & sometimes they justify their jobs & high salaries by messing with things that are fine the way they are. Apple may get a couple complaints about something, but bored engineers not currently working on anything important can say “I’ll get right on fixing that! Even if only 2% of users made the complaint.

There are pics I like but I can’t use as wallpaper bc I can’t see the icons & such. But long ago I made that adjustment in my thinking, plus I’ve accumulated many pics I like to use as Wallpaper, I know where the app icons I use are & cld find them in the dark, and I HATE THE BLUR!!! I thought the blur was for pics with text on them—I like to use comic book cover art as Wallpaper, now that’s impossible, I find the blur far more of a prob than the logo on a pic behind the apps.

I really think what’s happening is that, in-between major new devices being developed, the engineers on staff need to be employed doing something. So hey, put them on a prob only three users have complained abt, then when thousands complain abt the fix, the engineering team can be kept busy un-fixing.

I have the same issue with my wallpapers. They look fine in the wallpaper setting but the moment you press DONE my screen is so blurry you can’t even recognise the wallpaper.

This has all happened since the latest update

I have tried with different photos, even my previous wallpapers aren’t recognisable.

i have loved my apple phones and am the laughing stock of my son who chooses non apple products.

please help !

It’s like they’re bored. Apple, Amazon, etc. etc. They’re always ‘fixing’ things that aren’t broken. Really annoying. Anything having to do with wallpaper/appearance preferences should be optional whenever possible. Don’t just haul off and blur the top of everyone’s wallpaper. Millions of people aren’t going to like it. Create an option to blur. All of these years, and they still don’t get it. “I know! Let’s move this here, and make that blue!” 🙄

Any chance you are going to fix this issue soon? I hadn’t changed my wallpapers in a long time but this “extended wallpaper” auto option has screwed up my pictures making heads thinner than normal. When you turn the feature off to manually fit it to the screen it blurs at the top. Come on! What’s the point of customs pics if they blur or screw up widths???

Although this is true, cropping it to the wallpaper size to erase the blur also takes away the image itself. I have this wallpaper that I absolutely adore but to have it as my lockscreen there is a blur. I used the crop tool (wallpaper option) all it really did was zoom it in for me. Blurring the picture and cutting out the best parts.
