To be clear: Standby Mode does work on older phones. Always on Display only works on the iPhone 14 and 15 ranges.
And no, AOD is not ever going to get added to older phones. They don't have the hardware for it.
Kind of. Sort of useless if you have to tap the screen to get it work with the phone in landscape mode on a charger. It really has its advantage if one owns an iPhone with an Always on Display, then Standby Mode is active all night when the phone is on its charger and in landscape orientation without ever having to wake it up.
Thanks for the detailed explanation of the hardware differences!

Anytime!
I think you must be an unrecognised (even by yourself) genius! How come Apple haven't told us this? Perhaps they just want to sell us a new phone?
Does anyone have any idea which NON Pro devices will wake the screen by detecting motion ?
So that means, with those old devices or new NON Pro models, you wake up in the night, you move or turn to look at the clock, and it lights up ready for you to see it ?
