Latest update to iOS 17 put a big gray poster background with white font on each of my contacts. Unless they used a custom photo, it is nearly impossible to read.
For clarification, I’m an older adult and my eyes aren’t what they used to be so most of my settings are set to a black background with a gray font.
Has anyone figured out how to change that gray poster box without having to do it on each contact one at a time?
This would indeed be very very helpful.
In addition to that request it would be nice to have a setting that disables the new default contact ID view that takes a lot of screen space just for style.
I would really prefer the old style where you don‘t have to scroll so much to see all essential contact information on one screen… I use this for business and I think a lot of us would like to have this setting to make it more convenient and practical again.

I have some color blindness and the newest update has rendered my contact list extremely difficult to read. How can I reverse it?
Grey background is terrible for many seniors. I am in my 80th year and find it most....unlikeable! Please put my phone back the way it was!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I agree: it's ugly and annoying that I cannot fix it unless I go through each one. I'm sorry I upgraded; I only did it for use of an app I needed and I hate the unintended consequences. It would seem they want you to use more storage to the point of having to buy a new phone every year. NOT GOOD for peoples' wallets or the planet. Gray is so counter to the entire APPLE ethos of fun and easy that I can only assume apple has lost the thread.

So now I have to go through all 155 contacts and fix this crap so I can read it. There’s a reason why I never use white print on dark background. Why did I not stay on android.

PLEASE FIX THIS! I’m clearly not the only one who hates this and finds it annoying. I found this community post after spending at least 30 minutes looking for a way to at least change the default color to something other than ugly “hard to read gray”! I only customize close family and friends. With all the technology Apple has and with all the pretty gadgets they market who’s bright idea was it to not only make the default “hard to read gray” but then sign off on making it impossible to change without going to each individual contact. I’m no software engineer but this is dumb. Who has the time or the inclination to do that? Unless you have less than 10 people in your phone! Please, please fix this.

I have over 400. I have no problem with this. However, I recognize that not everyone has the same needs as preferences as I do.
Just put your finger on bottom of it and drag it up until u don’t see it u will have to do that each time.. it’s so unnecessary to hv changed. When it was fine before.”mind over madness” I guess.
Age is but a number...I am 43 and also find this new layout extremely hideous and the opposite of user friendly, something Apple is known for, or used to be. I understand one person with one bad idea, but how in the world did all the people above that person look at this and think, "Yep, that's a great idea!" Crazy.
