Latest update to iOS 17 put a big gray poster background with white font on each of my contacts. Unless they used a custom photo, it is nearly impossible to read.
For clarification, I’m an older adult and my eyes aren’t what they used to be so most of my settings are set to a black background with a gray font.
Has anyone figured out how to change that gray poster box without having to do it on each contact one at a time?
I called Apple support and you can change the background color by hitting edit one the contact then the edit picture and then chose color or for some of them I didn’t have that option so had to hit monogram ( put the first letter in the first circle) then pick the color you want. Each one has to be done individually but for my 95 year old mother I had to do it. Fortunately her iPad and phone are connected so at least I only had to do it on the phone.
Apple is now the phone with the poorest dial screen and now Samsang is winning!.
if this takes a month,I will buy pixel 7 than iPhone 15 , I hate usesless and choiceless updates of iOS 17

Agree I don’t like the new contacts page. How can we get the one display back globally
I have some color blindness and the newest update has rendered my contact list extremely difficult to read. How can I reverse it?
I am so tired of Apple employees justifying their job by changing stuff that doesn’t need to be changed. Great, so now my contact is grey on grey on grey on grey and I can’t even read it.
Grey background is terrible for many seniors. I am in my 80th year and find it most....unlikeable! Please put my phone back the way it was!!!!!!!!!!
So now I have to go through all 155 contacts and fix this crap so I can read it. There’s a reason why I never use white print on dark background. Why did I not stay on android.
I ended up just putting the phone face down on the desktop and taking a picture that came out solid black. Then I just changed all of my posters to the black photo so that now it's just a black screen with a light gray font that I can read.
That said, it still required changing each contact individually which is inconvenient for those of us with a few contacts but would be an outright nightmare for anyone with more than 50.
