iOS17 Upgrade - Wallet/Apple Pay broken

My cards were NOT in the Apple wallet, but I didn’t receive any notification saying that they were removed

Now I tried to re-add cards and they won’t enter. iOS 17 needs lots of repair. Every time the face identification doesn’t work(which is frequently )and I enter my Lock Screen passcode wrong (even just one time) , it locks me out of my phone for an hour. I don’t get more tries, nothing! Immediately lock out for 1hour.

New iPhones are covered for 1 year parts & labor on manufacturers defects. You also have 90 days of Apple Care phone support. Standard warranty does not cover accidental damage, theft or loss. You have 60 days from date of purchase to purchase one of the forms of Apple Care. This applies to US purchases.

I doubt I will, referring to the other posts people have made about being quoted half if not more than half the cost of the phone to fix a software issue is wild. And apple reps saying software didn’t cause it is also wild.

Rep told me that software doesn’t cause hardware failure, period.

I reminded the rep that recently there was a hardware heating issue because of software. The rep got defensive and said “listen, it was only in iPhone 15”. I laughed at that.

Reps are not going to do anything. Neither is Apple until this becomes more widespread or have media attention.

As I said, cards not coming up is a symptom. Symptoms are just that, one possible indicator to the issue. If your issue is determined to be hardware, you’re covered. If it is software, you’ll need to be patient or pursue available software remedies.

Apple doesn’t >enforce< updates or upgrades.

It’s expensive to fix because the fix is to replace the main board. It’s almost impossible for a technician to remove the failed system and then soldier in a replacement on a double layer board.

Pedantic but sure, not “enforced” as I could have had automatic updates turned off, but when Apple tells you not having the latest iOS updates is a security risk, and they’re on a device which has access to all of my financial data….

I understand the work that goes in and the cost behind that. It doesn’t change the fact that expecting me to pay for something they’ve broken is an expense that should lie with them, not with me. Not sure why you’re here defending them when it’s clear they’re in the wrong in this situation.

I‘m experincing same issue on my iphone 14 pro, just got out of warranty for 1 month only. I also don't believe it's the hardware damage though technician from apple store told me so.

If this hardware issue really happen to so many iphones, apple should look into if their components quality, and recall all the defect products!

Me too wasn’t getting messages then I paid with Apple Pay logo and did not notice it’s missing from wallet and now they refunded it 93.00 and it shows zero purchases and zero refunds and I’m sc**** help!! Pls ! 15 pro max on Verizon!

Hello, I was wondering, did the problem ever get fixed? It’s cause I just updated my phone to iOS 17.2 and now my wallet took off my debit card and it will not let me add it again, I already tried everything but no one seems to have the answer to help me

The update to 17.0.1 seemed to cause the problem for me. My Apple Pay worked fine after the 17 upgrade. Using a 13 Pro.

I have the same issue. After upgrade to iOS 17, wallet is broken. I have reset, restored, couple of times now.

I am on iPhone 12 Pro Max.
