iOS17 Upgrade - Wallet/Apple Pay broken

I upgraded to iOS17 last night and now when i open the wallet app on my phone it says "Apple Pay requires an update on this iPhone". This morning when i opened the wallet app for the first time i got email alerts from my credit cards saying my cards have been removed from Apple Pay.

Things i have tried:

Re-installing the wallet app

Wiping and restoring

Wow!

I also opened a case with Apple Support.

They ran diagnostics as well and confirmed it was a software issue for mine.

Since yesterday they have provided a new iOS 17 update overnight to fix the issue.

I can now successfully add by card back on my wallet.

I have not yet checked to see if it works whilst shopping.

My cards were NOT in the Apple wallet, but I didn’t receive any notification saying that they were removed


Now I tried to re-add cards and they won’t enter. iOS 17 needs lots of repair. Every time the face identification doesn’t work(which is frequently )and I enter my Lock Screen passcode wrong (even just one time) , it locks me out of my phone for an hour. I don’t get more tries, nothing! Immediately lock out for 1hour.

Pedantic but sure, not “enforced” as I could have had automatic updates turned off, but when Apple tells you not having the latest iOS updates is a security risk, and they’re on a device which has access to all of my financial data….


I understand the work that goes in and the cost behind that. It doesn’t change the fact that expecting me to pay for something they’ve broken is an expense that should lie with them, not with me. Not sure why you’re here defending them when it’s clear they’re in the wrong in this situation.
