AirPrint not working after iOS 17 Update

AirPrint was working on ios16 using a Canon printer connected to my home WiFi. I recently updated to ios17 and the printer shows up as an available printer but shortly disappears after selecting it. I am able to print on iPad os 16 and my MacBook Air on Ventura using AirPrint. I’ve reset network setting on both router iPhone and printer and I am still encountering same behavior. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix it or if it is a known bug in ios17? I’ve also restarted my phone and tested it on my partners iPhone which shows same behavior on ios17.

"Cannot AirPrint after updating to ios17 on iPhone: Issue was fixed after updating firmware on Canon printer under Menu -> System Management -> Update Firmware

Updates are what firmware is all about. To get something working as it should with a newer Operating System and to fix bugs, install firmware updates.

Excellent job troubleshooting!

Since the upgrade to iPad iOS 17 my iPad has been unable to print to my Kyocera laser printer which it did before the upgrade, my iPhone 8 which is still on iOS 16 still prints to the Kyocera Printer.

My MacBook Air M2 will also not print to the Kyocera, both iPad and laptop will however install the driver and print to the Canon

Both the MacBook and the iPad will see the printer on the network as an air printer but after installation will not print.  I have tried without success installing Kyocera as a network printer using the IP address.

All devices are on the same network.

when will apple get a fix for this issue, have spoken to apple tech support and they are denying it’s an iOS issue, rather an issue for the printer manufacturer to sort. Not good enough Apple I’m not spend good catch on a new laser because your software updates are flawed.

Re your when are we going to get a fix, probably depends on how much leverage the printer manufacturers put on apple, if you are running older printers maybe apple will just take them off the supported printer list, which will mean investing in a new printer, everyone happy apart from the end user. Both of my printers are on the supported AirPrint list, but only one works with iOS 17. I don’t run a VPN, that’s not the issue for sorting my problem.

I have a Cannon G7000 series printer, and I'm experiencing similar issues with not being able to AirPrint from iPhone after updating to iOS 17.0.2. I first checked to confirm that the printers firmware was up-to-date, which it was. I tried the process of first turning off my printer, then phone, router for 15 seconds, and turning on the router, iPhone and then printer (in that order). This did not fix the problem. I see that some people had Norton's VPN, which was causing the issue. I don't have Norton's installed on the phone or computer. I also checked Cannon's support page, and I did not locate anything on point.

I would appreciate either Apple's tech support or a knowledgeable community member's assistance with other possible fixes. Thanks!

Are you experiencing this with an older HP Laser Jet? I have the exact issue, and can airprint from all other apps, but can't airprint any photo from photos app or even if the photo is saved outside of the photos app. I tried saving to files and opening from there and still could not print it. I print to an HP Color Laser Jet Pro 400 M451DN which has firmware from 2019. The printer blinks for a few seconds then nothing. I duplicated this on other Apple devices running iOS 17.1. I also tested to a new laser jet 4201DN and the photo printed fine.
