AirPrint not working after iOS 17 Update

Ok, the main issue that has been proven to cause the issue is not being prioritized. Updating the firmware should be included before restarting the printer cause if you read through every single thread- it seems to be the problem caused by the iOS 17 update. Like I pointed out- Apple had me doing everything humanly possible for 2 hours before I thought to update the firmware on the printer which again, solved the problem instantly. And I even think I had already put back my VPN profile before updating the firmware (it wasn’t on though cause I knew that would cause an issue potentially)- so that’s totally unconfirmed if that’s contributing to the problem. I would say yes, potentially it could be a problem because of what a VPN actually does. But this solution is not working for ppl who have printers by all these random manufacturers that no one has heard of, just the mainstream ones. Canon has seemed to have received the message, so I’m surprised HP users are still having issues. They either have printers that are so outdated that there are no available firmware updates (which DOES happen unfortunately) but for the newer ones- maybe HP has yet to reconfigure their firmware so all their printers are compatible. I have no idea how Canon was able to come out with an update so fast. Guess I just got lucky.

100% UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ON THE PRINTER! Even the Canon reps did not know this, and sent me on a rigmarole for literally 5 hours, and they still had a terrible fix which was to download the canon print app, then you have to go save your item as a file (extra steps if it's an email or a photo) Thanks to YOUR COMMENT it works!

This was for my elderly parents who suddenly couldn't print after the iPad update and they have been suffering getting it to work. then I had to teach them how to use this canon print app work around - they were so confused - and I had to write down the instructions for them step by step, and still they had a hard time and were SO UPSET that it has become far more complicated.

I said don't worry mom, I'm sure they will have a fix soon because lots of people will complain, in fact, I will see how many complaints there are. Googled it, and found your comment - and your fix worked!

My mom is literally singing my praises for the last 15 minutes calling me a hero - but I did nothing. Thank God I found your comment! I so appreciate it, my parents are SO RELIEVED they can just go back to the original way and don't have to do this new complicated way!

I was seeing this with multiple devices after upgrading to iOS 17.x. Upgraded to 17.2 last week and it fixed all the Airprint issues I had. At the moment I'm installing 17.2.1 to test and make sure it still works.

Wao!!! Thanks Lawrence Finch! I just tried your recipe and it worked. I just printed the conversation with you from my iPhone on my HP 6200 printer! And my iPad has also recognised the printer. I switched off my iPhone, printer and the router. I started the router again after 15 seconds and then my iPhone and printer. Then it started working normally again! Thanks once again.!!

I was able to fix the problem by installing firmware update for my Canon printer. Just search your printer on the internet to find out how to do it for your particular printer. Hope it helps!

It appears that anyone using Norton VPN is having this problem and turning off vpn temporarily solves the issue

My cannon printer was doing this and after I updated the firmware, it fixed it. Go through your printer settings. Looking for update firmware.

I had to disable my VPN app on the iPhone to get AirPrint to work again after updating to iOS 17.

I spent hours with apple telling them it was their problem, but in the end it was Canon. They showed me how to upload a new firmware on my printer, problem solved.

IOS 17 with a Canon printer not selecting —the fix was to install a firmware upgrade on the printer. Thanks to the diggers that gave the solution.

Disabling VPN (Disconnect) worked for me.

If you have Norton websafe option turned on, turn it off - this resolved the AirPrint issues for me.

I updated my canon 244 firmware and it solved the problem.
