AirPrint not working after iOS 17 Update

17.2 fixed it.

If you have VPN installed but not in use, delete the VPN profile and app.

Try turning off both Private Wi-Fi Address AND Limit IP Tracking in your ios Wifi Settings and turn your wifi off and on again.

Getting Epson to Work with iOS17:

Contact Epson. They probably have yet to do their part in providing the drivers.

They obviously know about it, because one of their advisors told me on Saturday how to fix the problem. Been fine ever since just currently dont have Nortons VPN installed. I wait with bated breath to see what happens.

Same problem I have had as per previous post , fixed by removing Norton’s VPN.

last Brother updates I can find for my printer firmware are 2015 or thereabouts.so if it is the firmware I’m not surprised there is a problem.

Whether you get a solution to this problem depends on your printer manufacturer, Apple have dropped support for the earlier AirPrint protocols and many printers only worked by using that earlier iteration of the AirPrint protocol. This earlier AirPrint protocol was dropped from OS X Ventura and has not been reinstated. I have a number of printers, some continue to work with the appropriate firmware update, but some older printers are now regarded as legacy devices and are no longer supported and will not print using iOS 17 AirPrint protocols.

The first step in resolving this problem will be to contact your printer support desk to check on the firmware version that you have installed and whether there is an appropriate firmware update, if there is install it and you will probably have a fully functional printer. If there is no update available you won’t be able to AirPrint but the printer will still work using traditional IP addressing protocols. This will work fine with operating systems (OS X, MS, Linux) that allow IP addressing protocols to be configured but not for iPad and iPhone iOS devices which rely solely on AirPrint.

Delaware,

reboot router, server, and any AirPrint devices, and printer

check AirPrint is enabled on printer

check VPN, Norton VPN is known to cause problems, disable VPN and check print status

check with Canon support desk if there is any known issues with this printer using iOS 17

did this printer work with iOS 16?

contact Apple support and raise a ticket

First check and disable any VPN software

It my sort the problem if you update the firmware on the HP and the Canon, if that doesn’t work both HP and Canon have iOS apps which you can install and will probably sort your problem, hope that helps

17.1 won’t fix the problems

See above post by Techguyuk and you will see it’s related to the bonjour version of the printer and if the printer is old and a new firmware version isn’t available, it might not support it any longer. I can confirm even with testing versions of 17.2 that it hasn’t been resolved.

Brandon, re your printing images problem, you could connect your iOS 17 device directly to your printer via a cable, you will need a usb c on one end for yr phone or iPad, and square usb printer connection on the other, I just tested this and it enables you to print via the cable from ios 17. This will bypass AirPrint . Not ideal but may help sort out the root cause of your image printing problem. If it prints with a cable it’s either an app issue or AirPrint.

My printer is a geriatric Kyocera 40 ppm duplex and a really don’t want to swap it yet so I have various systems to make it work without AirPrint functional on the printer (AirPrint Bonjour print server being one, IP printing being the other).

I found a solution (at least it was working this morning - fingers crossed) that worked for my Epson printer WF-3720. I unplugged the printer overnight. I plugged it back in the next morning and was able to print from my iphone which had been recently updated to IOS 17.

What you probably did was update the printer firmware. When you powered it back on it checked for updates and found one.

Update to IOS 17.3 and then down load the Cannon print app. I can print from my phone now to both my air printers just as long as I use the Cannon print app!

Go to settings, General, software update!

If when you hit print and it goes to the old print page, hit options and choose the Cannon print option!

I had the same problem with my Canon WiFi connected printer in iOS 17.3.1. Turns out it was the printer firmware. Updated the firmware and I can now print with no problem.
