Apple TV HEC Issue after update

After update into tvOS 17 my Apple TV Remote stops working with my TV. While I want to sleep/wake up only Apple TV works and have to turn on/off TV screen manually. Before update everything was ok - I Have dumb tv connected so there is no need to look for updates... Also my HomePod paired as Default Speakers works different after update. When I'm trying to play only sound (Podcast or Music) via Siri - My Apple TV also turning on now. I have tried to reset CEC by unplugging all wires but nothing happened. Do you think restoring Apple TV and HomePod would help? Or you have any other advices?

Verify the CEC settings on all your HDMI devices. In particular the one that just got updated. Just in case it got reset somehow.

For Apple TV: Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Control TVs and Receivers﹥On

For TV and optional other devices: See their manuals. They may have a brand-specific ‘trade name’ for CEC.

(CEC seems to work fine on my Apple TV box with tvOS 17.)

It isn’t Apple breaking that ability, the functionality of HDMI CEC is dependent on the TV and each manufacturer supplies their own implementation. So when that functionality breaks it will be dependent on them to fix it.

This exact issue occurred a few years ago and it was quickly apparent that it was for users with LG TVs. Once enough users went to them with the issue and they investigated LG acknowledged it and sent out a patch, after which it was reported to be fixed.

In the event it was ever caused by an update from Apple then it would be replicated by the regular users in this forum and threads like this would be full of reports within a few hours.

I am not trying to argue with you, just pointing out the facts. It can be easy to just say it happened after an update and immediately go for Apple but when you step back and realize that may not be the case it will help to go in another direction that will help solve the issue. However, if you don’t want to do that it’s your choice.

Have a nice day.

My issue is similar, but the CEC seems to work fine. Just the Apple TV won’t which on via the remote if it’s been left off for a period of over roughly one hour. In order to turn it back on I need to switch off/on at the plug. I am having to do this every morning and every time I return from work since the recent tvOS 17 update 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hopefully Apple will fix asap.
