Anyone else having issues with their Apple Watch not charging or poorly charging since upgrading to WatchOS 10? I've tried a hard reset of the Apple Watch - that resolved it the first time, but back to same issue after that initial full charge. I am using the same Apple charger I have been using for the past year when I bought my Apple Watch 8. There sure seems like a WatchOS problem.

Looks like there is a feature that prevents the watch from charging to 100% to extend the life of the battery. Same feature they have on MacBooks. Mine was Stuck on 79/80%. If you look at the battery indicator you will now see a small line where it stops charging. Tap on the battery indicator and then tap on charge to 100%. You should be good to go. Hope this helps. This was a poor rollout of this new feature.
And did you uninstall MobyFace app? Do it!
Since updating to watch 10 my apple watch 8 lost all charge from full in less than a hour and will not recharge at all on the same charger I used prior to the update. Never had this problem with any previous updates!!! Apple need to do this URGENTLY as it’s definitely a OS update issue.

Based on another post on this thread, I turned off my watch before putting it on my third party charger and it started charging. Surprisingly, it seems to now work without turning the watch off. Go figure.
Oh yeah, OS 10.1 last night, today, watch holds a charge a few hours IF I can get it charged, it gets so hot charging that it stops charging a while to cool down. And, no AppleCare and I'm 1 month out of warranty, go figure. Hopefully they have an OS fix coming soon for this....it's definitely WatchOS10 related. And why can't we downgrade like we could the iPhone on our own!
Is there maybe another app causing it? Easy enough to uninstall all apps to see if the problem goes away. Then one by one re-add if it did to find the culprit. Might aid Apple or another app was identified.
Really, uninstall MobyFace or even all apps then see how it works.
I’m having the exact same problem with series 8 and the new iOS. Watch will stop charging at 80% after 7 hours on the charger & the Fitness app drains it. Without using the Fitness app, the watch will be at 38% after wearing it for 5 hours. Prior to the update, my watch would be at 78% after 17 hours of wear & over 2 hours of Fitness app usage.
Ugh.. same deal.. nothing like causing support calls from your family to ask you why their watch is stuck at 80%, particularly when they are elderly and don't like change. :-). Guessing this needs to be fixed / addressed with a WatchOS update as it seems to have limited a ton of people to 80%. In this case the Battery life indicator said 90% on this watch. Apple forgot to test this charging scenario apparently or at least give notice of the change for WatchOS10. #FixitNow please.
Apple Watch 8. Same issue charging. I will say using the Apple charging cable, the watch charges fine. Using my 3rd party charger, it is brutally slow. However, if I turn off the watch, put it on the 3rd party charger while turn off, it charges nice and quick. Weird.
This is a new problem. I just did the update last night, and the watch did not charge overnight. The Ultra 2 was sitting on the charger it came with in the box last night. For work -I have an apple watch charger from my 7 that worked fine prior to switching to the Ultra 2. Had a great battery life prior to last night's update, and now I'm draining a percentage every 5 minutes with low power mode on, and cellular data turned off. Give me a break - this isn't a software bug? Has to be. Watch was fine prior to the latest update. The watch is also getting warm on my wrist, which has NEVER happened before. I got a "sort of" charge out of it this morning after a hard reset, but now I'm back to heating up on my wrist and losing a % every couple minutes. Just dropped $105 on new charging accessories. You're welcome, APPLE!
Yep, I continue to experience this every day since upgrading to wOS10. After I do a hard reset on my AW8 it finally does charge but as you said, it charges slow. It also seems like the battery is draining a LOT faster than it did with wOS9.
I am also having this issue. I also cannot upgrade to 10.0.1 because it does not recognize that it is connected to the charger. I am down to 17%. I don't know what happens once there is no longer a charge.
Yes me too charges over night to 85% then stops I turned off optimised charging. I have reset my watch nothing is fixing it, I’m very active during the day and use my watch a lot however a pain I find myself having too boost the charge during the day, they need to fix this asap
It is the same issue that Apple had in os 9 with third party charging and it took them months to get a patch out. Why do they do this kind of stuff. My watch when placed on charger said it was charging then stopped and never charged. I woke up to 8 percent.
