watchos 10 charging issues

Anyone else having issues with their Apple Watch not charging or poorly charging since upgrading to WatchOS 10? I've tried a hard reset of the Apple Watch - that resolved it the first time, but back to same issue after that initial full charge. I am using the same Apple charger I have been using for the past year when I bought my Apple Watch 8. There sure seems like a WatchOS problem.

Looks like there is a feature that prevents the watch from charging to 100% to extend the life of the battery. Same feature they have on MacBooks. Mine was Stuck on 79/80%. If you look at the battery indicator you will now see a small line where it stops charging. Tap on the battery indicator and then tap on charge to 100%. You should be good to go. Hope this helps. This was a poor rollout of this new feature.

Yes. We have two and they both started having this issues with the recent update. Regardless if the charger is Apple or not and all the resets, and basically turning all the functions off for the watch…which makes no sense ??? Might as well not have it at all…There is a HIGE BUG that needs to be fixed. I’m sending in a repair notice again today.

Me too:

Apple Watch Ultra 1 taking many hours to charge since updating to watchOS 10

  • original Apple fast charging cable
  • connected to (non-Apple) 100W USB power supply that works perfectly with all other Apple devices.

The combination worked great before watchOS 10 update. Now the watch needs to stay in a charger for many hours every day.

Embarrassing part: Two people purchased the latest gen Apple Watch after I convinced them that they charge fast. Now they must consider returning or waiting for Apple to fix the bug.

Apple, please recognize that this is a bug and you will fix it: knowing that it will be fixed would allow not returning the watches.

So basically my $800 computer can’t run any apps??? I pulled out my Apple Watch 6 and didn’t pair with my phone…no update and it works fine. All day battery life and all my apps work!!! My spouse took his Ultra to Apple Store. Was going to take 10 days to have a factory reset..he spent an additional $400 and traded in for the Ultra 2…Guess what???? He paired and updated to…..10.1 and BAM!!!! It’s now sitting dead on the night stand!! $1200 later and his watch doesn’t work.

Same issue. Apple Watch 6. After this last update the watch can be on the charger and will not go past 70%. I removed it from the charger and without wearing it the charge dropped to 38% in about 30-40 minutes. Prior to update I could go all day of heavy use and only be down to about 75%. Something definitely wrong with this last update causing extreme battery drain. Even when not wearing it is getting hot.

Same issue with series 7, charge will not past 56%, restart it will go to 60, that’s it. Also fast draining on charger. So I have to wear my watch until it die so it will charge overnight to 100%. The watch will last for 5 hours then it goes to battery saving mode. I had problem deleting mobyface, but I finally got it off. Will see if watch is better

Same issue with me, it never charges to 100%, it actually discharges while being "charged".After my series 6 updated to watchOS 10 is been having issues. Battery lasts 4 hours usually, in the battery section of the graph does not show the discharge data. Only shows the bars for charging only. Sometimes it charges to 100% but the battery charge graph it says only went to 80%.

Right now my watch is unusable. I prefer watchOS9, the additions the changed I don't like that much either

Have the Apple Watch Ultra, before the update I'd get two days on a charge. NOW I GET 7 HOURS! Apple needs to fix this! My watch doesn't make it through a work day! I've restarted my watch, it did n NOTHING. Today, when it was down the 31%, I turned on the low power mode and found that the Battery setting was changed to only charge to 71% (I have now turned that off), but my watch is still dead, and I won't leave work for 3 hours.

It seems to me that it is intentionally like this. I sometimes see a message that they are optimizing the charging so that it'll be ready in like 10 hours or something. I can't for the life of me think of anyone on this planet would need slower charging. It's only one amp, so there's nothing saved. I used to love going into the shower for 15 minutes and coming back and having my watch battery way up .
