iPhone call history shared between devices after iOS 17 Update

on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.

Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.

After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.

I have the exact same problem. I agree with what someone else said and that is that there's no reason they could not have an on off switch for not sharing phone logs and voicemails just like they have similar on off switches for other features. Just because other people don't use this feature doesn't mean it's not a good idea and necessary for a lot of us.

As I've stated before, the option of two apple ids has a lot of drawbacks as does, in my case with two separate phone numbers, going down to one phone. There are many and specific drawbacks for each that I've thoroughly researched and neither is an acceptable option.

I did. I thought this forum was for people to discuss their concerns. You seem to try to legislate what concerns are legitimate for people to discuss. If you don't like what we're discussing why no just leave it alone?

This is NOT a discussion forum. This is a technical support forum, where people ask a technical support question and if a user can answer, a user provides an answer. There is nothing anyone here can do to unmerge call logs if a user shares the same Apple ID on multiple phones. So there's really nothing to discuss, except to provide feedback to Apple via the link we've provided.

Why is it not okay to share a technical support issue that really matters to me and see if others are having it and what they've tried. I have a technical support issue, I'm seeing what others including myself are trying, I'm discussing technical aspects of what will happen to my two phones if I have 2 apple ids, etc. I guess you think I've crossed the too much discussion line? Not trying to be adversarial but this has been helpful to me.

You can share it all you want. What you can't do is solve it. No one but Apple can solve it. And since no one on this forum works for or has anything to do with Apple, if it makes you happy to complain with other people, feel free. I don't own the forum. I wouldn't ever tell someone they can't post here. But what point is there in sharing with others an issue which not one person here can solve. And may never be solved, because Apple continues to make it clear Apple ID's are not meant to be shared.

But share away if it makes you feel better......

unfortunately my wife and I are in the same boat, we are suckers keep coming back to iPhones and every time one of us gets a new one there’s something, my wife held off the longest on the last one from an iPhone SE to now a 14.

hopefully apple allows us to operate as we have the last ten years, we share photos, contacts etc but do need my wife’s call log and voicemail ummm no.

And multiple times it’s been shared that this is not a solution to a great many of people who have more than one device of their own. Using the same ID on two phones I own and use is no different, (read risky) than using it on both a phone and IPad that I own. Not everyone dealing with this is sharing one ID between multiple people.

I’ve been frustrating like you coz I have one Apple ID with two phones two numbers to keep my work life and personal life separate.

I didn’t even realized they merged until recently coz they never did - anyways I was doing some testing while talking to apple support (who didn’t help and just kept repeating the same message) - coz I wanted to see how soon the call logs would merge

Then I stumbled by chance that they don’t sync right away - rather, the two phones would first automatically connect because of the new NameDrop feature of iOS 17 and then once they connected, the lists merged!

now that I have turned off NameDrop, the lists don’t merge anymore!

Settings > General > AirDrop > turn off “Bringing Devices Together”

I hated it anyways coz whenever I put my two phones together it would make that sound and that screen thingy I just never got around to turning it off

And It’s a feature I can live without - I’d rather have my two lists stay separate.

Hope it helps!!
