iPhone call history shared between devices after iOS 17 Update

on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.

Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.

After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.

Lol, not happening, and I am definitely not making a ID for a company phone. What I have done to my company phone works, and it will get me by until its time for a device upgrade.
Apple is so out of touch with reality, so with that logic, I need a separate ID’s for my Ipad, my Apple TV, my apple watch, my ipod. Thats fine, seems apple does not want repeat business.

Non-sequitur. Your iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and iPod touch are all personal devices, owned by you.

Your company phone is likely a corporate device – one owned by the company.

That's completely wrong. Apple not only expects your iPad, Apple TV and other "individual" devices to use the same Apple ID, but it is why they created Continuity, so you can share data between them easily.

Phones are completely different and while you may be using one ID for a work and personal phone, they are seen as the same by Apple. If this means you'll be choosing another manufacturer going forward, that's certainly your choice and really doesn't matter to anyone here. You should of course buy the products which best meet your needs.

And just as importantly when migrating, remember to set up those other phones as separate accounts too, as I’d expect other vendors may well continue to merge their accounts and logins, as well. Which might potentially include voicemail.

I think you're commenting to the wrong person. I never said the phone was owned by your company, but it honestly doesn't matter who owns your phones.

Only apple is like this, lots of people switched years ago because of apple’s policies. A google ID is pretty simple to use, my google ID is used on both of these apple phones with ease.
I am now seeing what others are now.

And I'm sure people switch brands. People move from Apple to Android. And people move from Android to Apple. Doesn't seem to be hurting Apple much. They just passed the $3Trillion mark.

And Google may well blend voicemail together across multiple Android phones in some future release, too. Hence using a second Google ID as a way to ensure you can keep your Android devices separate.

I highly doubt it, and it shows you don’t understand a google log in.

A phone number is attached to that phone, why any programmer thinks that syncing phone call logs on a totally different phone needs to give their head a shake. It’s a collection of private info that should not be monitored, and the reason I do not trust apples security any longer.

Yes you are correct, I replied to the wrong person, sorry.

yep the have good profits but alot has changed with IOS 17 and its annoyed alot of owners. This forum is not the only place this is being discussed and its a very small one at that.

Also its none of apple’s concern what people do with their IDs. It’s the unwanted gathering of info thats the problem here.

That's just not true. Apple owns the software. You just have a license to use it. Continuing to complain about it here, with only other users, gets you nothing. You know how you can solve this or live with it, or buy something else which better meets your needs.

Hey guys,

I came here to find an answer to the question posted, but did not see any solutions. I ended up contacting support and they came up with a solution for me. I don’t know if it will work for you guys but here it goes…

if you have other devices, check to see if they have the same settings you want for the calls (FaceTime) and text distribution between all devices. If it’s not on, turn it on and check it. I ended up deactivating FaceTime and text from the other devices and that seemed to have resolved the issue. Good luck and have a blessed holiday season!

Other people have noted that that works for a little while then stops. The only surefire way to resolve the issue is to stop sharing an Apple ID.

I JUST FOUND A VERY EASY FIX FOR THIS ISSUE OCCURRING SINCE THE IOS 17 UPDATE. AND, IT WORKS !!!

If you share 1 Apple ID for 2 people, + since updating to ios 17, you get each others’ voice mails and see each others’ call logs, just turn off ‘Phone’ in icloud sync on both iPhones, reboot both iPhones, wait a few hours for the change to take affect. Then, you will notice that the auto-sync described above has stopped.

You're going to find out this is a short term solution, which almost everyone has performed doesn't work long term and within hours or a day, doesn't work. Come back in a couple days and report the results, if you would.

I can tell you there's a couple in my office who share the same Apple ID. They tried this and initially it worked. But the next day, call logs and voicemail messages were back to being merged. Many in this thread tried this already, with initial success only to have it not work.
