iPhone call history shared between devices after iOS 17 Update

on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.

Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.

After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.

Why is there so much smoke on here? I came attempting to RE-separate my call logs between my two separate phone lines.

Apple Rep: if you see this, those of us with 2 cell phones on the same Apple ID want our call logs and voicemails to be SEPARATE!

There's NO smoke here. And there is currently NO WAY to separate your call logs if you have multiple phones on the same Apple ID. NO WAY. Apple continues to make it clear that sharing an Apple ID is not the way to go. If you choose to do so, you live with the consequence. If you call that smoke, so be it.

No one from Apple will see your post, nor respond at all here. This is a user to user only forum. Apple does NOT actively participate here. If you want Apple to hear you, the only way to get their attention is to use this feedback link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I don't know what to tell you. It's working as Apple designed it to work. Most people want data which is on one device to be on all devices using the same Apple ID. And that's how Apple engineered it to work.

Why Apple didn't offer the same toggle for phone calls, I can't answer. I don't work for Apple, nor does anyone else on this forum.

All you can do is send your thoughts to Apple directly. You can use this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

There are no Apple Employees on this user to user only forum. And no one other than Apple can change this. And Apple employees are not permitted to participate here. Apple has made it clear that if you use the same Apple ID on more than one phone (work or personal), your data is available on both phones. The answer for this is to set up a completely different Apple ID on either your personal or work phone and stop sharing it. Or accept this is how Apple intends it to work.

Complaining here is pointless, since Apple isn't here, nor reading these posts for content. So, if you're not happy about this, tell Apple, by providing feedback via this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

we are a Apple house hold that shares a main Apple ID because we always miss place our devices, so find my iPhone is very handy.

You don't need to share an Apple ID to use Find My to find other devices. Family Sharing will allow you to find other devices in the group:

Locate a family member’s or friend’s device

If you’re part of a Family Sharing group, you can use Find Devices on iCloud.com to help locate any family member’s device. Their devices appear below yours in the All Devices list.

Each family member must set up their devices to share their locations with other family members. See the Apple Support article Share your location with your family. Once they set up location sharing, you can locate their devices using the instructions above.

You can’t add a friend’s device to Find Devices. Friends who lose a device can go to icloud.com/find and sign in with their Apple ID.

Locate a device in Find Devices on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Apple plz resolve

As this is working the way Apple intends, it seems unlikely that they will change it. However, you can always send them feedback. The link has been provided multiple times in this thread.

You can't. Sometimes, people respond to the original post in this situation.

Can someone please explain to me how making a suggestion to call apple to file a complaint, is against the rules? I don’t understand how they are inappropriate.
I am trying to help users, but I keep getting moderated, I don't have a clue as to why.

Only the Hosts know why they take the actions they do and discussing beyond broad generalities is not permitted.

Given that Apple has provided a feedback portal, it would make sense to me that they don't want to have support personnel simply handling complaints about which they can do nothing.

I can not reply to the email so I clueless as to what I am doing wrong.

Posts are removed when they violate the terms of use we all agreed to when we joined the forum. I didn't see the post you are referring to, but it likely violated something. For example stop discussing moderation and don't get upset if a post is removed.

Apple have always allowed you to do it,

I think more precisely, Apple didn't prevent you from doing it. But, it's pretty clear, at least to me, that they don't have any interest in making sure that you continue to have that ability. The fact that you did was incidental, not intentional. Something they have changed for other reasons has removed that ability and, because it's not something they ever officially supported, Apple doesn't consider anything broken.

But, you should still submit feedback:

I have the exact same problem. I agree with what someone else said and that is that there's no reason they could not have an on off switch for not sharing phone logs and voicemails just like they have similar on off switches for other features. Just because other people don't use this feature doesn't mean it's not a good idea and necessary for a lot of us.

So tell Apple:

This feature should be bind or related only to the cell number and not the APPLE ID. I have two phones, each one with their own numbers with the same APPLE ID. When I grab cell #1 with # 888-888-8888 I just want to see who dial this number. I don't want to see the history on any other devices I have like cell #2 with # 777-777-7777. PERIOD. Easy to understand. It was like this since the beginning of the iPhone era.

How can I unbind this information from my Apple ID asap? Phone calls I have, is personal information that I don't prefer to share with Apple.

You cannot change this behavior. So complaining here on a user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't actively participate, gets you nothing. Share your thoughts with Apple here, if you want Apple to hear you --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Tell me where I allowed my History calls to be synch. The questions never been asked to me. You got many settings to choose to allow synch but calls history is not one of them. My point is, calls history should be bind to phone numbers not APPLE ID. You get the idea?

Much as I respect lobsterghosts1's opinons, it really doesn't matter if they get it or not because they can't make the changes you want.
