I have an Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) connected to a Samsung TV that pushes audio out through a Sonos sound system. It was working fine earlier today. I upgraded the tv OS to v17.0. Now, several apps (e.g., Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, etc.) do not provide any audio while the YouTube TV and YouTube apps functions normally. I have 1) rebooted and 2) changed the audio format to a different setting. Any suggestions?

jees, I just came upon this thread. just posted a similar problem.
I've isolated it to dolby 5.1 and tvOS 17. just started having this problem so I suspect 17 broke something.
forcing everything to stereo audio format seems to be a workaround. after switching back to 5.1 it seems to work..... for a while... then it fails again.
dolby 5.1 will just go silent after a while. if I leave it in stereo format I have no problems. so that may explain why some sources work since not all are doing 5.1 or atmos.

Installed 17.2 and the Apple Remote still does not control the ZVox speaker connected to my Sony TV. My Apple TV remote worked perfectly till the 17.1 update this fall . The Apple TV is working off my WiFi network. Any suggestions or ideas?
I’m having an issue with Apple airplay. Tried all the rebooting tips, nothing works. What’s strange is that my YouTube and Spectrum apps work fine. Audio and video both work. Any other apps, including Apple Music provide video only, no audio. Spent a few useless hours with Apple support, even being bumped up to a specialist. Again, they just give out the same suggestions of rebooting and checking audio settings. None of those work. It’s been several weeks now that this has been happening. It’s definitely a problem on Apples end, but they won’t acknowledge that nor do they seem interested in fixing this problem. Very frustrating. By the way, this is occurring on ALL my Apple devices. 9th generation IPad, 7th generation Itouch and MacBook. All three respond in similar fashion when using airplay.
Weird. Turned everything on this morning, and it worked like it should. Bizarre.
Not using AirPlay. This straight using HDMI.
Same issue for me. Tried many things and no luck.
Upgraded my Apple TV this morning and no sound whatsoever. Apple needs to jump on this right away, I am going to use my Fire Cube until they get this fixed.
I just don’t get why they just have us do the same steps over and over and don’t escalate it to their software bug team.
This keeps happening to me. Reboot works sometimes, but the second I move from one app to another, no sound. Obviously, a bug with OS 17. Hope they fix it quick.
I noticed mine was very hot while not working.
Mentally prepare, it’s gonna comeback. Its intermittent. Its been happening to me on & off since the TVOS 17 update.
Same....as soon as it gets warm/hot, the audio stops after I change streaming apps. Made me wonder of it is something with tvOS 17.0 and how it regulates power.
Yesterday was the first time it's ever happened. I hope it doesn't come back!
it’s nice to know that I’m not alone on this issue. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting and getting frustrated with this.
So Apple when will you make the paper weight work again. I am glad I still have a Fire Stick to hear my tv.
