Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

Hello~ We can’t answer for Apple as to “why” they do things….they didn’t ask my opinion anyway. I think if you are patient and leave your feedback below this will be addressed…

Not just on apple as the ring camera I use to have allows you to change the sound and unique options on their cameras app so blink so be able to do the same as it operates basically just as the ring does and kinda like a copy cat of them why they can’t copy that also lol

Blink could fix this if they wanted to. The Ring app has used it's own tone options for years.

I have an older Iphone 8 and an 2017 Ipad 9.7 which are updated as can be (16.7.2). Therefore I am not sure what the 17.x.x whatever is the problem. This all started when the Blink app changed on my Ipad recently, which makes me suspect the problem is on the Amazon side. Something Amazon did in their coding screwed things up. I have 19 cameras in 3 locations and many $$$ invested...both Amazon and Apple should put their best and brightest on this asap. I'm grandfathered, but if you are paying time to yell at both ends to have this addressed. Their respective reputations and future sales are riding on this... at least for me.

Hello ~ Because this never was a Blink problem…though they have problems aplenty 🙂🙂 This was an iOS issue and I like you am updated to iOS 17.2 and glad this issue has been solved. Take care and enjoy.

The update only allows one to change the default notification sound. We really need to be able to set a sound for each and every different app. It’s a pain having the same sound for Reddit, Blink and say your banking app. Apple blames the app software engineers and vice versa, but Apple needs to allow or insist this feature is utilised in each app. This should have been resolved years ago.

I still think it’s an Apple problem. After this last update last week, my email notifications started coming with the same sound as the blink notification. So now I’m pretty positive that it’s definitely an Apple issue!!!

Thanks for the post!!! I got an email about it & just updated & set my Blink cam sound back. My dog came running & when I told her they fixed our Blink cam sounds she actually did a happy dance <3!

Hello~ I changed my Blink sound to “Anticipate” while my email New Email is a Ringtone. So it is possible and calling people here liars plus using vulgarity are against terms. Have you updated to iOS 17.2 yet? I would be more concerned about the security of my iPhone than an issue that’s been at least partially solved.

Well I have a news! Android and ios play the exact same sound in new blink update. And costomer service and developers are dumb as rock. They don't know what they are talking about. They develop the app and assign this dumb notification to that. After amazon acquired blink, they are following the path to total collapse very well.

Do you really think that’s the case? Of course Apple can make the third party devs choose notification sounds. This is way down the list of importance and hoops the devs have to jump through already. EVERY app should have the option for the end user to choose their own sound.

Hello ~ Seems broken again? I am back to carrying my SE first gen as well as my 12 mini so double notifications are better than one. It’s a mess. Apple and Blink are aware. Have you updated to 17.2.1? I think that broke it …again.

Hello ~ I have followed this extensively from the beginning. I contacted Blink again today and their response was very different than last time. Last time they completely denied everything but this time they said they were working with Apple towards a resolution. I am just fed up with whoever is at fault!! 🤣🤣 Funny not funny. I am back to carrying two iPhones which is not ideal. I happen to agree with Tony9642 at this point. I also spoke with Apple and worked with a very nice technical support person but no joy. We could find no way to change the default alert as I was able to do a while back. I have a large investment in my blink systems and I am looking for something else now as I just need to feel safe….you know?? I don’t think that is too much for us to ask from a security system. Back to wait and see everyone….

Mine worked right after the 17.2 update, as well. My default notification sound is still set for Tritone. Now it seems that Blink has chosen their own sound for us ios users. I'm just accepting it & trying to teach the new sound less audible chord sound to my dog Lady that can hear a pin drop & new the old sound. She was so happy to get it back for a minute. Thankfully she seems to understand that there's a new sound for our cameras yet again.
