Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

The Blink notification sound is still fine on an android phone, so I would think it’s apple that needs to make a change. Especially since it happened with the upgrade to IOS 17. Although I do think Blink should make it so we could change the sound. I agree it never was very loud.

Very valid points from all. To me this is as obvious as it gets. For me it is not just blink. I have alarms that sound on entry and exit for staff, that's changed to a quiet one, I have Eufy security that has also changed to being quiet. This really is an Apple 'mess up'!

I had the same problem with the iPhone 11 just upgraded to the iPhone 15 still having the same problem. the notification sound is faint you can’t hear it and there is no way to change it. This was because the Apple update.

I have contacted Apple and Blink. Blink are beyond useless. After trying everything I was able to get the motion audio working. In part having to force restart many times. This morning 11.15.23 @ 7am I left home and it worked. I returned at 9:39a and it didn’t work. I went to the Blink app only to find Blink had automatically updated their app. The format different with other issues not working. I’ve been trying to get the audio back with luck! Sent two complaints to Blink. Enough is enough. 🤬 Time to start looking for a new security system.

My three Blink outdoor cameras continue to take pictures but all stopped providing notitifications several weeks ago. All of my settings were reviewed by Blink Technical support and the Blink ap was deleted and reloaded. Still no notifications. Blink Technical Support today (11/17/2023) provided the following statement:

"Due to IOS update in iphones, some of the apps including Blink are affected. One of the known issue is the notification that was removed. Can you please contact Apple care services and check if they can help you with the notification settings on your phone?"

My response to Blink Technical Support: I believe it is Blinks' responsibility to keep their app software compatible with the underlying operating systems (IOS) designed for and used for their devices.

My camera sounds started out faint after the ios17 update but now I have no sound. I just purchased 5 new cameras and ditched my old ones for this very reason, no sound so no alerts. I live in a rural area and depend on the alert sounds! I also no longer see the number of clips in red on the Blink app on my home screen. Between no sound and no clip notification, I assume I don’t have any clips. This is very concerning for safety reasons.

I think it is ridiculous to blame Apple for this problem. I'll tell you my reason. There are over 2,000,000 apps for the iPhone. Does anyone really think that Apple should have to check with all 2 million app developers every time they update your iOS? This is definitely Blink's problem, and there is no reason why they haven't updated their app to change the notification sound. Since the start of this problem, they could have rewritten their entire app at least 20 times by now. I don't know why they have abandoned their customers, but it's pretty sad.

Apple is the one that arbitrarily changed the default sound with the 17 update. I agree with Blink. And I do appreciate that Blink is most likely scrambling to get a fix in place before they lose customers over Apple's poor decision in this default notification sound.

If indeed Apple did make an audio change that is their prerogative. It’s up to the App’s to keep up. It’s in Blink’s best interest to hustle and get an audio fix ASAP instead of telling its customers (per postings here) they are NOT going to do anything.

This sounds like a big problem for Blink, i call Apple all they said they are aware and Iworking on it ,but if you look at the eariest date on the community it goes back to October and Apple said the samething , we are going into XMAS and Blink is a big Amazon item reguardless this problem should of been taking care of it shouldnt be up to the recent customers never to say new customers looking to buy a blink

Agreed! Blink is fully aware and have no intentions to update their app to provide a different alert tone. So frustrating. I called Blink over the wknd and they confirmed no intention to help and all this is on Apple.

Go through the blink app for notifications then go to accessibility and make sure announce notifications on speaker is clicked on - and then try it again - phone must be locked and screen must be black (asleep) it will not work if phone is unlocked or being used or open thats why it’s a good work around at night only pretty much

This is a bummer that this is no longer working and we can’t fix it. I use Blink to secure my home at night as an early warning system for intruders. Since the update I can’t hear the alert. Until it’s fixed, I have my android tablet next to the bed. It’s Blink alert is loud and clear and I can still use my iphone to watch the clips
