HomePod OS 17.0 asking to accept terms & conditions

I have updated original HomePod pair to OS 17.0, my Apple TV to tvOS 17.0 and my iPad to iPadOS 17… when I ask Siri to play a radio station on my HomePod it starts to say it is playing via TuneIn but then states that I need to accept Apple Music terms and conditions on all devices. I logged out of iCloud on the iPad, rebooted and then logged back into iCloud but it did not prompt for any new T’s & C’s. I cannot logout out of tvOS (logout button is greyed out) because it is the only Apple ID logged in on the Apple TV. I’m stuck. How do I accept apple T’s & C’s? I also have an iPhone 13 still on latest iOS 16.x and a couple Mac’s. I have not yet upgraded to new home architecture in Apple Home on iOS.

I just figured out that I had not launched Apple Music on the iPad after updating its iPadOS. Once I launched it and logged in with my Apple ID then the HomePod error message disappeared and the HomePods would play music finally.

Thank you for all the responses here. I had the same problem after I bought a new AppleTV and connected my paired HomePods for watching TV. All of a sudden when I wanted to just listen to music, Siri was asking for T&C agreement. Just opened the Music app on AppleTV, hit “Continue”, chose a song to play, and now everything is back to normal. Siri will play music through the Home Pods without AppleTV being on.

My issue was the same (need to approve terms&conditions) only that it affected exclusively the two paired homepod-minis serving the appletv, and not the other homepod-minis (all devices anyway running v17.0) which were working fine.

After spending hours on this (impossible to find how to approve the terms&conditions),

I solved it by unpairing those two homepod-minis, and pairing them again.

That was it, and now the Music flows again. No more questions asked about approval of terms and conditions!

This has happened to me several times - every update it seems, very frustrating. The fix turned out to be easy, figuring out how to fix the problem - infuriating and time consuming. One would have thought Apple could have fixed this issue by now or at the very least have Siri provide instructions that were actually helpful….

Anyway, moaning over, after the software update, I opened up Apple Music on my Apple TV, it asked me to accept something resembling terms and conditions, which I did and played some music for 30secs to make sure it worked. Then turned the Apple TV off and asked Siri to play music on my HomePod. She thought about it for a little longer than normal, but then launched into a playlist. Problem solved - until next software update…

Trust me, I was you. I was even screaming at Siri. I normally use my paired HomePod minis to play music, but also as speakers for my Apple TV. Do you do this too? If so,

I found the solution on the page. Just go into your Apple TV and play a song in Apple Music and the problem will be resolved.

if you use your speakers for a Mac or iPad whatever, log into Apple Music on those and do the same.
