Memojis disappeared after iOS 17 upgrade

tap the + (to the left of the text box), choose “Stickers”, tap on the icon with the multiple people….or the girl’s head….and there they are!

tap on “Stickers”

tap on the very small “people” icon (5th from the left)

You should see your Memojis..

when you use them they will appear in the “recent” list.

Tap the + next to the message box.

Tap “Stickers”

Tap on the very small icon of the people (5th from the left)

on the very top row.

Top on your Memoji

They should be there.

Well, it happened to me, too, yesterday after the iOS update. However, after much frustration and hours after poking around and Googling. So, I clicked on the plus sign in the text box, then clicked on Stickers and Bingo! There they were. Now I can, at least find them. For some, they’re somewhat smaller. But at least I found them. Hope it works for you.

An angel (in my opinion) showed where to find the old Memojis a few days ago … yes! They’re still there! Tap on the + button next to the text box, on the left, select STICKERS and choose your old Memojis from the menu line at the top. I was SO happy to find them!!! I’m oddly attached to those things & they’re much better than any others I’ve seen. VERY happy to discover their “hiding place”!!

Hit your Memoji on the top line (you may have to scroll to find it along with all the animal)

Your Memoji stickers should all be there.

Just figured it out - go into a text thread and click the Stickers tab. Thereafter, the + sign and just click on those icons that come up and one of them is the Memoji set of stickers. Unfortunately, you do have to click on every individual one for them to pull up in the used list but that’s where they are buried. Apple needs to fix that expeditiously lol.

When you press the plus + symbol, and then press Stickers, scroll over in stickers until you see a little icon that looks like a face with hearts in the eyes. Click that and your former memojis should be there.

My problem resolved.

Back story. I upgraded from iOS 16.x to 17.1. Afterward, in iMessage, I couldn't find my Memojis (the one I created to resemble me, plus the subsequent ones auto-generated from that). I followed the various suggestions here, to no avail. I tapped the + next to the message box, tapped Stickers, then scrolled through the row of icons, tapping on each one. Where I expected to find them (the icon of the face with a heart covering each eye) was empty.

I reflected on the several posts here reporting the same problem I had, but it being resolved after they updated to 17.1. As updating from 16.x to 17.1 is what resulted in the problem for me, I hadn't given much consideration to those posts. But it struck me that perhaps the specific version might not be the essential fact, but rather the upgrading itself. (An odd consideration, I realize, but software can do all sorts of quirky things.)

So, I checked for an upgrade, and 17.1.1 was available. I installed it, and voila, my Memojis were back, right where I had initially expected to find them.

Stupid and annoying, but resolved. Thanks those here who have posted replies to try to fix the missing Memojis problem. I appreciate the community!
