Safari freezing on iPhone 12 Pro Max after iOS 17 update

I am currently getting this escalated through Apple support. Doubt if it will have any effect but I decided it was worth trying. The more of us who keep hassling them on this one the better.

17.2 iPhone 12 Pro Max having this same issue. Safari does not load properly after hitting back on the browser. Have to force close out everytime.

Arguably the most frustrating electronic experience I’ve had since dial-up days.*

I’m not exactly tech-savvy, so correct me if I’m wrong, but this issue seems relatively simple, fundamental, and inexcusable considering the technological sophistication of its cultural background, not to mention the billions of dollars backing it.

If the geopolitical and tech-industry leaders are genuinely concerned about the potential threats of A.I., couldn’t they just build Safari into all the bots as a failsafe?

Did anyone get a fix for this issue? I am now running iPadOS 17.1 and Safari is completely unresponsive, just a white screen with the 3 dots at the top for different screen views, and then usually after 10 seconds or so it crashes. I tried rebooting after clearing the history, didn't work. Chrome and Firefox both work fine.

It just takes forever for the initial webpage to load for me. Once it does subsequent pages are at a reasonable but not great rate. I switched to Chrome on my iPad. I would prefer Safari if they ever fix this.

What is the problem in this company? No one resolves the problems. Nobody helps. The SO is a disaster. Safari is a madness. It seems that they are in bankruptcy and they don’t have employees.

Is anyone else also having the issue of trying to refresh when Safari freezes and getting prompted to change privacy settings if the site isn’t loading correctly? Nothing I do there seems to make a difference either.

Same issue here iPhone 15 pro iOS 17. Tabs that I leave for a while freeze when I go back to them. All tabs then affected. Makes safari unusable.

Some of you at least get something to start with, with problems later.

Whilst others, such as me, only ever get that blank white screen!

Is there no way to discover what is happening?

Last night’s update made no difference. Ugh! So I’m still stuck using Chrome

I have the back button issue as of 17.2 but it’s a separate issue of the slow loading which I also have.

Safari has been a mess for me for 3 months now with no fix.

I was having the exact same issue and it was very frustrating. I just cleared my history and website data and now it is working perfectly.

To do this go to:

Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data > All History > Clear History.

I hope this helps you the same way it helped me.

Slow loading would be far better than my no loading!

Apple support sent me a huge list of things to do but why?

The problem is entirely with the software, nothing to do with our phones or how we use them.

Plesse can someone wake them up and get them to understand this, and fix it!
