Safari freezing on iPhone 12 Pro Max after iOS 17 update

Ever since I upstaged to iOS 17, when I first launch Safari, the webpages for pre-existing tabs don’t come up quickly and sometimes they get stuck and never refresh. Sometimes when a page does open up, it doesn’t allow to scroll or click any links. When I open a new tab for a new webpage, it doesn’t go to said page immediately either. Meanwhile Chrome and Firefox are working without issue. The Safari issue is worse when I close it then relaunch it, as even the browse line gets stuck. Has anyone else had this issue? This is on an iPhone 12 Pro Max

I am currently getting this escalated through Apple support. Doubt if it will have any effect but I decided it was worth trying. The more of us who keep hassling them on this one the better.

I have been doing regular updates but nothing worked. Before I did the latest update, I backed up my iPad and then reset it, and set it up as a new iPad. I then did the latest s/w update. Reset it again and then restored it from backup. that worked. I have been using it for about 3-4 weeks and all is fine. So, not sure if it was the latest release or in the manner it was done, but whatever it works. I was concerned about the 17.3 update but I have now completed that and Safari is still working.

Good to know that something works. Not sure I can be bothered to go through all that!

So I shall wait until 17.4 is available locally before trying anything so drastic.

Although still being very angry with Apple support and development for not even acknowledging that there is a major problem for many people, I should acknowledge that this problem has enabled me to discover some of the many goodies and flexibility that come only with Firefox and Google (although they too have their own quirks, and some limitations).

Happy Valentines to all our readers.

iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 17.4.1 is having the same issue. For me, when I try to open or reload any page it takes time for the first 5 mins. After that it works fine. If I leave my iPhone fore more than 15 mins and try to search something this issue comes up again. This is really really annoying.

Can someone from Apple Customer Service confirm that this issue is recorded as valid and you are working on it to fix this ?
