iPhone lagging and slow after iOS 17 Update

I upgraded from iOS 16 to 17 on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and noticed performance issues. The recent update to 17.2 has worsened the lag and significantly increased battery drain compared to iOS 16. I'm disappointed and hope they address and resolve these issues soon, or provide compensation for affected users.

Sold my iPhone 14 Pro Max and got a 15 Pro Max, and guess what...

THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED AND IM NOT EXPERIENCING ANY LAG! 😎

I did not face any significant issues after updating to IOS 17 or 17.1.

After updating to 17.2 the phone app is super laggy. If I search a contact it takes few seconds to show up. And even when i dial a number there is a lag. All the basics have been done like restarting, closing apps, enough storage available etc. Any help appreciated

iPhone 15 pro max is much much slower than my old galaxy note 10 plus. What’s the deal? Even to get to this page it took 10 secs to load. Odd seeing my galaxy open page in .5 secs. But apple just laughing at us.

Same here, ios 17.2.1 on iPhone 12 pro max.

the keyboard is so slow and laggy, it looks like using the iPhone 4 with ios 7.

The battery health is 92% and the phone need to be charged 2 times a day.

ios 16 was laggy too, but at least my battery was lasting a decent amount of time and I could still write messages the right way.

This is NOT a normal behavior, 1450€ for a phone that is more laggy than a 10 years old phone.

Apple needs to fix all this, I’m considering to stop being an Apple user after 10 years.

And stop providing false fixes like restarting the phone and resetting the keyboard.

The price is rising and the service quality is getting worse year after year.

Same; phone dying at 15-20% now.. screen stuttering. Lagging everywhere , opening apps/typing lagging, constant screen lag. Wasn’t like this before. Maybe stop sending universal updates for all iPhones? We know you’re making the new updates on the newest iPhone; without thought for the older ones. Not buying the new iPhone either. Will look for alternative.

I even instantly regretted updating my 13 pro to 16 even after waiting till 16.3 to update. Ever since that day and throughout all updates till date, i have had a random delay in waking up the phone. iOS 17 of course brought lags and stutters everywhere across the ui with it. I am not buying another iPhone till they get their act together.

Dictionary reset, complete reset and predictive off did nothing unfortunately - spotlight search is a new bug where it takes ages for previously instant results on ios16.

Lag is still present on 17.2.1 after weeks of indexing and resets. It occurs in new places as well, such as pdf share or notes edits.

You guys aren't encouraging me at all to get a newer phone! I still have a XR that is nearly 3 years old and this last ios update is causing my phone to glitch and temporarily lock up. Not to mention the battery has been toast since it was only 6 months old. As much as I prefer iPhones, I am considering going back to an Android after about 8 years of iPhones because of these issues. It's obvious that Apple is intentionally slowing down our phones so we will want to buy the newest phone for $829-1,029 which is highway robbery!!!

Me too !! I thought I was going crazy my iPhone 13 is still under warranty and after updating to ios 17 I’d various problems with battery performance and the phone being sluggish and it’s not running smooth at all the keyboard is stuttering and when i pull down the top menu it’s sluggish and weird I swear my 8 plus preforms better than this even with battery below 80% !!!

Same my 14Pro max also feels laggy and sloppy when using camera and it also stutters when i’m closing any app,and sometimes when i pull down the control centre what is wrong with apple they were the optimization king…I’m disappointed by apple this time

I'm using an 12 Pro Max with iOS 17.2.1. Open links in both Safari and Chrome. Chrome opens instantly. Safari can hang for well over a minute. There is no discrimination with the amount of data that is being loaded on the website. Kind of embarrassed for Apple over this performance issue. :/

I have an iPhone 12 Pro and with this iOS 17 update is laggy as ****! Never had performance issues before with iOS 16. Is this how you make people buying the newest iPhone release? Not cool! Very very upsetting.

Good to know I’m not alone I still have 200 GB of storage free on my phone. It is indeed the latest OS that is making the phone laggy and freezes from time to time.

I thought I was going crazy, but so good to know I’m not the only one.

Ever since the last update our iPhone 13 pro max cellphones have been real slow and it's so bad. I am doing this reply on my android tablet. We are at the point where we might have to buy android cell phones and possibly switch our service provider who has been no help with this problem.
