iPhone lagging and slow after iOS 17 Update

My IPhone 13 has been considerably slower ever since I updated it to ios 17.

Its never been this way in ios 16!

while using safari, I am witnessing frame drops. My keyboard is not smooth. While check for background apps, It’s stuttering and the app overall scroll seems very sluggish and lots of frame drops.

i have more than 50Gb storage space available and my battery capacity is still above 80%.

Even while typing this, My keyboard seems sooooo sluggish!

please help me and suggest me some useful tips to resolve this apart from the usual force restart and all fixes!

I was advised to:

(1) Reset the dictionary back to the default (for me, that is just English)

(2) Make sure all apps are turned off

(3) Restart the phone

(4) Test the lag whether still happening

(5) Add back dictionaries needed.

It seemed to work for me thereafter.

Additional step suggested was to turn off the Predictive text in Keyboard as part of the above, then add it back in after restarting the phone.

I went from Android to iPhone in 2021. I have fell in LOVE with the iPhone, but now After the update my phone has been super laggy and sometimes it just closes out all my stuff completely. My husbands phone he hasn’t been receiving text messages or any other notifications. He’s also not been able to make phone calls probably. We share our location with each other and it’s not even showing where we are half the time now or it shows we are not at the right destination. Even before the last update I wouldn’t receive notifications or phone calls.

Exactly the same thing on my iPhone 12. 18 out of 64GB are remaining. I had this phone for about 2 years. I have iOS 17.5. The phone is notoriously slow, gets warm, and has poor battery life even if its life depended on it. The battery health is at 87%. Someone at Apple has to give the real reason for this. My dad is saying that I won’t get a new phone for a long time but I might have to pretty soon. Even my hotspot doesn’t work anymore! I used to get speeds up to 400Mbps on 4 bars of LTE. I feel like LTE used to be faster than 5G on my phone. Now, I ran a speedtest on Ookla and I got less than 1Mbps on the same type of cellular signal, 4 bars of LTE. I feel like Apple was wrong about RAM being “equivalent” to double the amount on a different OS. This phone has 4gb of that stuff, equivalent to a school Chromebook, which would be nearly a quarter of the price—and nearly the same speed. I hate this, Apple. I would very much appreciate if you would explain this.

My IPhone has been really slow since my update 17.5.1. It’s really messed up we pay so much for such a lagging slow phone, not to mention my daughter passed away and now I see my granddaughter with her monitor because they don’t live close and all I get is spins. Very disappointed! Apple get on the ball and fix this problem or more people are going somewhere else. I’ve been with you since IPhone 4 and they were even faster. Very sad and wrong to do to your customers.

I'm livid. My iPhone is almost unusable. Facebook doesn't display photos. My NY Times apps are so slow. 100% they do this on purpose and I'm looking to divorce myself from apple because enough is enough already.

You should always buy the phone that best meets your needs. Live is far to short to let a small piece of metal, glass and electronics to make you "livid". Sell it and move on to something that doesn't agitate you so much.
