CarPlay iOS17 not working

So since I did the iOS 17 update, CarPlay no longer works. I have reset the settings on my phone, my car, went through every step I found online and I have installed the most recent bug fix. So I am at a loss and I am assuming when my iPhone 15 Pro Max gets here today that I will still have the problem

Okay, so far on iPhone 13 Pro Max after iOS 17, 17.1.2 and 17.2 updates CarPlay doesn't work on 2021 SYNC3 Mustang, 2024 Opel SUV Hybrid in Europe, and on external screen device link with bluetooth. I can pair, verify, load data, but CarPlay never launches on vehicles. The first two say connected the third never indicates it's connected. Tried factory resets on all vehicles and external devices and clearing of CarPlay and Bluetooth Connections on iPhone, but still no CarPlay. Reset iPhone network connections, changed network access setting on iPhone as directed. Literally nothing works. So, I installed my wife's Apple 14 Pro with some version of iOS 16? on it and magically everything works on the same CarPlay devices.

So that essentially proves this is caused by iOS 17. If I had an iOS 16 backup, I'd revert, but unfortunately backup on iOS 16 started failing which is why I upgraded to iOS 17. It appears that Apple stopped testing software before launching, we're all beta testers.

Also have loaded latest firmware multiple times, so that's not the problem either.

I've also tried changing cables but that shouldn't have affected my wireless CapPlay connection device, so still iOS 17 issue.

I literally had to pull up an old iPhone mount and install on the front dash so I can navigator or borrow my wife's phone.

So Apple, please fix defective CarPlay on iOS 17 so we can stop wasting time and drive safety with handsfree.

carplay is not working since IOS 17, I’ve unpaired and repaired numerous times, tried Bluetooth and wired connection, rebooted the phone and the infotainment system - phone connects to the car for calls but not car play. CarPlay icon is there but just keeps saying to unplug phone and turn on Bluetooth. Is there going to be an update to fix this?

Acura TLX owner here. CarPlay stopped working 2 days ago after 17.1.2 update. I’ve rebooted my infotainment system, reset my phone network, checked restrictions to ensure CarPlay is allowed, and now 2 arguments and 4 hours tinkering with my car and phone later my phone won’t connect to my car at all. Apple please fix this for my sanity, relationship, and safety!

To thise who have been unsuccessful with “powering off” the Infotainment system:

Did you hold the power off until it asks if you want to reboot?

I don’t believe it will work if you simply power off and power on.

admittedly this is what worked for a Honda. I don’t know about Toyota as it seems this is where most of the posts have come from.

the blue tooth audio also went super flaky after the update to iOS 17.1.1 on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s a 2016 Nissan rogue which used to be able to control the music app on my iPhone over Bluetooth flawlessly with both the steering wheel controls and dash / radio buttons (skip, pause, rewind, etc).

resetting the infotainment center works only for about 3 songs before the music will cease to shuffle, stop playing any songs even if pressing the play button on screen or on phone. Also the “shuffle” feature always orders the songs the same now when prior to this update I would get a randomized playlist.

super frustrating, doesn’t seem to be resolved with cable swaps or deleting and reconnecting through Bluetooth

So, I had this same issue after ios17. I have an Iphone 14 Pro and my carplay would connect, but every so often it would disconect with me having to reconnect it. I updated to ios 17.1.2 and my carplay completely stopped working. It wouldn't connect to the Iphone. I reached out to a Apple Representative and these steps helped me to fix my carplay on my 2021 Kia K5:

Try the following steps:

• Forget the stereo from Settings > General > CarPlay > [stereo name].

• Forget the iPhone from the settings (stereo user guide for instructions).

• Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name.

• Reset network settings on the iPhone.

After doing that:

If your car supports CarPlay with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon. Be sure to use an Apple Lightning to USB cable.

• If your car supports CarPlay both wirelessly and with a USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. An alert on your iPhone will offer to connect you wirelessly on your next drives.

• If your car supports only wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on. Then, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and select your car. Check your car manual for more information.

Hope this helps anyone having issues still within IOS17 or IOS 17.1.2

I finally got my iPhone 14 Pro to work in my 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE by doing a reinstall using "Erase All Content and Settings" under General on the iPhone. After restoring data from iCloud and before connecting to my car, I REMOVED my phone from both the bluetooth menu in the car, AND as a previous device in CarPlay settings in the car. When I plugged it into the car again, it asked for permission to use it for CarPlay, and installed something, and it has worked since. iOS 17.1.2 has so many issues though - I still have problems with bluetooth either not connecting to headphones and speakers, or connecting and then cutting out constantly as if it's 50 yards away.
