Updated my iPhone 11 to.ios 17.01 last night. Since then, my face id won't work. I get error messages or it says face id not available. I thought I could reset face ID but it's not letting me do that either
. Rebooting the phone didn't help. Everything was working fine until the ios 17 update finished installing.

It is quite a rare issue, it may occurs somtime when the new software crashed on your device. These steps may resolve your issue:
A. Hard Reset
Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
B. Reset Face ID by turn off your device passcode and set up Face ID passcode
Settings> Face ID & Passcode> Turn Passcode Off> Set Up Face ID Passcode
C. Connect to Mac and Restore iPhone
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
Make sure to back up your phone before restoring it, I hope this instruction will resolve your issue.

Mines not working either and won’t let me set up a new Face ID ! Reset is not working as a fix
Working even worst with 17.5.
They remove 60 min mandatory pause for Face ID change and mandatory successfully scanned face when do a new Face ID. But now I can even set the new Face ID.
I tried everything including restarting phone. Obviously this is a bug with the new system and apple fixes it fast
My Face ID is not working from today. I tried everything but nothing is working. After updating my device it’s started.

This is exactly what happened to me! I have been dealing with this for 7 months...they keep wanting me to erase re set and re start my phone...it's infuriating!
My face is stopped working since I hit transition lenses. The glssses in normal light have a slight gray tint to them and the scan tells me it can’t see my face.
