Apple Watch Ultra 2 VERY dim inside and dark enviroments..

Fix is EASY. Simply allow users to SET minimum brightness, knowing it will effect battery life. Or… Allow the user to override the light sensor…as iPhones have allowed for over a decade.

Not directly, but I can confirm that my Watch 6 was just fine at night up to WatchOS 9, and now has the same issue as my new Ultra 2 since I have upgraded to WatchOS 10.

I have the Series 9. Same issue. It’s a watch OS10 issue. My series 4 was great. Much brighter. I updated to OS10. Dim. Just like my new 9

I too am having this issue. One thing I noticed is that the second and third brightness level in the watch settings app are the same. The third level which should be brighter than the second is not. Seems like a software bug to me.

I agree. The brightness in dark environments is ridiculous. I would return it based on this issue alone. This is a very expensive watch and not being able to see it in dark environments is ridiculous.

I just spoke with Apple and they are aware of the issue. On the face of the watch if you hold down the screen to edit the face you will see an Edit button> Tap the Edit button and on the top of the screen there is a option to slide left or right to choose night mode. Once you are in this option use the Digital Crown to scroll it to off.

This will not turn off the auto dim just the night mode where it goes red.

I found out that this latest Apple Watch update adds a night mode sensor that is a bit of a pain on the Apple model that you and I have. They changed the sensor to auto.

I found out how to turn it off

If you hold your finger on your screen until it pops into edit mode you will have a button that says edit tap on it then you will see at the top of the screen it should say style. If you swipe your finger to the right it will get to night mode.

You spin the crown to select the mode to be off.

Apple is already working on a fix

From what I can tell so far the option to turn it off the red night mode is limited to the wayfinder face. I played with a few other faces. And I would agree its pretty dark... It seems the easiest answer would be to turn off the auto dim feature completely or give us the option to do so with the understanding that it will impact the battery. It was a manual thing before and the update to version 10 re-purposed the crown spin to an app function of sorts.
