iPhone 15 Pro not charging

Brand new right out of the box (No damage or foreign objects in charging port) I just updated it and transferred my data from my iPhone 12 and none of my cables or charging boxes / PC will charge my phone.. But when its off if I plug it in it will turn the phone on but still not charge. My wireless charger will charge it and Yes tried different charging cables, force reset, checked for any debris in the charging port.. Basically everything they told me to do to troubleshoot it..

The fix that worked for me was turning off optimized battery charging and clean energy charging, also use usb c cable not MagSafe. And if your phone is a little warm you should cool it down with something. For me holding it in front of an ac vent in a car worked.

the issue is the phone thinks it overheating and refuses to accept a charge.

let me know if this works for you aswell

I have an iPhone 15 Pro.

I have many Apple 5W chargers around the house as I like to charge my phone slowly overnight to preserve batter life.

At first, for a few weeks since the phone arrived, it charged OK. Then, the charging became intermittent: sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. At first, I thought either the charger or the cable I was using may have become faulty.

I bought a couple of brand new quality Anker USB-A to USB-C cables to try those (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M5GMZ6X?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). They didn't work either. However, a different unbranded third-party USB-A to USB-C cable always works with the 5W Apple charger (I think this one possibly came with a Logitech device).

A quality Lindy charger/hub always works with a Syncwire USB-A to USB-C cable (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TXNLB4P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Since the problem only occurred about 2 weeks after the iPhone 15 Pro arrived, the issue may have been caused by one of the recent updates.

I've tried restarting the phone and a hard reset, as others reported that this fixed the issue. For me, it hasn't resolved the problem.

You need a different block. Those little old white blocks don’t work with this new phone. My MagSafe charger charges for a few minutes and then shuts off. Frustrating. I wake up and my phone is still at 30%. BTW…My old wireless charging pad works great. In addition the little silver adaptor works great in my car when I plug into the USB receptacle, phone charges continuously til it’s at 100%. It also charges with my big iPad charging block

Had the same problem and realized the chargers they give you 90% of the time don’t work they gave me a broken iPhone and Apple Watch charger had to buy all new ones (20W USB C Fast Charger with 10ft USB C to C Charging Cord for iPhone 15/15 Pro/15 Pro Max, iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 6/5/4/3, iPad Pro 11 Gen 4/3/2/1, iPad Air 5th/4th, iPad 10th Generation, iPad Mini 6) this one works perfect for me and hope this helps

In your situation if they sent you defective cords with your new iPhone and Apple Watch purchases you didn’t have to buy new ones unless you couldn’t wait to receive the free replacements. But if you wanted the upgraded items you purchased then that makes sense. You still would have been able to have the standard ones replaced if they were new or if they stopped working during the warranty period (1 year manufacturer warranty).

This is the 2nd 15pro that I have that has now experience this issue. The solve was the above + Plus the following steps:

  • Hard Reset
  • Shutting off the Battery Optimization
  • Shutting off Green Energy

I spent 2 days in an apple store and their solution was to replace the phone after not finding a solve. Two half days of my life I will not get back that they don't have a solve for. The above solution has worked on my second phone this morning and it is now charging the way it should.

You're welcome. TBH, I haven't plugged my phone into charge since MagSafe arrived. It was your post which got me to even try plugging either of our new phones into a plug. It is odd it will work in your car, charges wireless, but won't in your house. I know this may sound odd, but can you go somewhere other than your house with a cable and the Anker Nano and plug it in to see if it charges?

So my new iPhone 15 Pro Max (had it 5 days) charged fine on the USB-C cable provided by Apple on a Anker 20W wall charger, and also with another USB-C cable I had on another wall charger, and worked with my USB-C cable in my car. No problems. Then today ... none of those charging devices worked.

I plugged it into my MACBook wall charger and cable and finally it's charging.

Next, I take it back to the previous two wall charger and guess what - it seems to be charging fine. But still not in the car.

Albeit the phone is quite warm when charging (or with any prolonged use).

Seems like some chip logic / software issue or ?? I am perplexed.

Do you mean Apple usc charging block? Because you’d need an adaptor with a USB block. We bought these little silver adapters on Amazon that switch it from B to C, they work great in my car’s USB receptacle but not at all in my wall outlets with the little Apple charging blocks. Not enough power getting through the little block? Trying my husbands iPad Pro big charging block that has a a USC slot, not a B slot.its charging continuously now and not shutting off. That tells me the little blocks don’t work anymore.

Same issue. Also bought the new MagSafe charger but had to plug it into the wall using a little USB-C adaptor which was plugged into the little white Apple charging blocks. Either stopped charging immediately or stopped at 65%. NOTE: that little adaptor piece works with the UsC cable the phone came with when I plug that setup into my car. It also works with my big iPad charger block but I understand that diminishes battery life when you charge it too quickly. It’s continuing to charge beyond 65% for the first time (other than in the car where it charges to 100%), it also charges all the way with the old wireless charging pad. That tells me the little white blocks don’t work with these phone and we need a different block. Back to the Apple Store today 😳

Same issue w/ iPhone 15 Pro. Charger randomly stopped working and after trying several different cables and different USB cubes (not sure if that is the official name lol), I couldn't get it working but it would charge when hooked up to my computer.

Turning off the Green Energy setting under Battery fixed my issue. All cables are functioning as they should now.

In my case it is an iPhone 15 (not pro). I got the device on launch day September 2023 and it has only just refused to charge today, 13 May 2024. other than one brief occasion at an Apple Store, where I used a mag charger, I’ve only ever used the charger that came with the phone. I have had optimised 80% charging on since I got the phone, and it has completed 69 cycles as at today’s date. The battery health is at 99%.

The solution for me was to turn the phone off. Even then I had to wait as plugging it in a couple of times did nothing. It did eventually, after a few minutes, begin charging after I plugged it in for a third time.
