Apple Watch series 9 says No SIM

Hi,

I just got my new Apple Watch Series 9 GPS + Cellular. I have unpaired my previous watch and paired the new watch successfully. I did not have Cellular version in my previous watch so I am not familiar with that feature.

Issue with SIM: When tapping button on the right hand side, below the crown and selecting the first icon I see:

Plan: No SIM

Status: No connection

Other issues (maybe relate to same connection issue...?): Apple watch is always asking to Enter Passcode when opening it, even if iPhone is close and unlocked. My previous watch only asked for Passcode in rare occations, probably when iPhone was not close by.

Appreciate your help soon, thank you in advance :-)

I have updated latest software and rebooted both Watch and iPhone after that. Both devices have battery over 50%.

I solved this problem on my Apple watch ultra 1st edition. Had this problem when upgrading to my iPhone 15 pro max, after upgrade watch said no sim , tried all the suggestions. I solved it by going to my account on ATT (after 2 days , to allow my new phone to show up in their system) I clicked the "refresh connection" for my watch and then restarted the watch , went into the watch app and after a couple of times of clicking the "set up cellular" the app appeared as if the set up went through, but watch still said "no sim" so I gave up. But about 20 min later I looked and it worked. I believe the issue is the number sync between the watch and the new sim on the phone. hope it helps
