Having same issue, on 17.0.2 - apple please fix. speaker on phone call goes silent and other party can not hear me either and also when not on speaker it cuts out as well over cellular and on Wifi w another apple phone. Very frustrating.
I'm having this same issue. For me it's not just the speakerphone. No one can hear me using the headset, speakerphone, or even bluetooth connection. The only way anyone can hear me is if I make a continuity call from my phone on my mac. I even had my phone replaced recently thinking that would solve the problem, but it didn't. Definitely a software issue.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max had the same issue when on phone calls through Apple AirPod Pro, speaker, or iPhone. Turning iPhone off and on again did not help. I found that when I muted then unmuted the phone while on a call, the problem went away. I am not certain why that worked, but it failed to work on 10 calls over 2 days and has worked on all 4 calls since the mute/unmute. Good luck to all, as this was an extremely frustrating bug.
Almost same. No one can hear me on speaker phone and I can hardly hear anything in regular phone mode on my end. It started immediately after the latest ios17 update to my 12pro! PLEASE fix this Apple!
After upgrade to 17.0.3 [iPhone 14], when on speaker my mic stops working on phone calls No problem if on my Air Pod Pro [v2]. If I turn the speaker off/on, the caller hears me for a moment and then dead mic again.
Seems to be software problem with my phone, not any callers - one caller has iphone 13 on iOS 17.0.3 and another has iphone 14 Pro on iOS 16.something & both experience my mic cutting out on our calls.
Ive got the same issue since downloading iOS 17 on an iPhone XR. As iOS 17 is part of the Beta release program I’ve posted feedback on the issue in the ‘feedback’ app. I’d suggest others do the same to help bring this issue to development teams attention.
They are now asking me to do another updat 😡 not only has the latest update messed with my sound but also how I use MY phone, It’s disgusting that Apple can dictate how we use our phones. I just want the old version back but Apple won’t allow this
I'm having the same issue. After updating to iOS 17.x, the far end cannot hear me when using speakerphone and the phone app. All other audio apps work, this is definitely a software issue Apple introduced with iOS 17.x and as of iOS 17.1.2 it is still not fixed. This isn't a hardware, case, or settings problem (reset settings is just a workaround).
@Apple, please confirm this is a known issue and link to any internal documentation you can share including an ETA for the fix if possible.
You're tone deaf. This exact issue is all over the Apple community yet you give the same old advice. It doesn't work. There'a a problem with the hardware or software and getting a replacement doesn't work either!
Same issue here. Been this way since iOS 17's release, tried all fixes, reset phone multiple times and still doesn't fix the issue at all. Apple seriously needs to get it together and fix this because it's absurd at best.
I finally solved my issue. Turned off “mic isolation” in the control center and set it to “standard@. Problem solved for me after over a year of dealing with carrier and Apple. It’s the phone everyone no matter what Apple tells you, not the carrier.
So much for Genius (NOT) Bar at Apple Store and the numerous senior advisors I spoke to over the last year that could not solve the issue.
You’re welcome! I really hope it works for you. I was at the end of my rope. I could no longer use speakerphone bc no one could hear me. I knew it had to be the phone and not the carrier bc I had no issue using speakerphone with my previous iPhone.
I reset mike isolation to normal as suggested by contributor asprovidence. Happy to report that for the last two days all speakerphone calls have been without fail. No more cutting out. Perhaps the initial ios17.x update defaulted to mic isolation. I don’t believe I set it that way. Hope this is the end.
Happy New Year!!!! So glad it worked for you!!! I haven’t had one issue on speaker since I changed the setting, it’s been a few days. I wish I could create a new post with the resolution but Apple doesn’t allow it. I tried reframing it but still wouldn’t allow it.
I download 17.2.1 after getting my screen fixed . My mic stopped working while I’m on the phone shortly after and leaving me with no choice but to talk on the phone via speaker . My AirPods already never let me talk on the phone while I’m on them so I’m very upset and more mad at myself that I even downloaded this software . I’ve taken my mic isolation off and set it to standard ; didn’t work . I turned my phone off numerous times and nothing is working !!! Apple fix it ! ASAP ! No Rocky !
Wow, that’s great! Someone working at T-Mobile said mic isolation is meant for blue tooth, but that’s incorrect. Other day a senior advisor told me they are aware of mic isolation mode issues and will fix in an update.
