I discovered that the volume control for speaker phone mode is independent of the regular iOS volume. This seems to be part of the 17.x update.
Make a call, set to speaker, and then adjust the volume up and it will all work fine.
This was driving me nuts as speakers worked all other apps except in the phone app.
I have had this issue on and off since 16.2. They fix it, then they break it, on and on ad infinitem. The issue is software, because it doesn't fail the hardware testing at the apple store. Usually they fix it after a few updates. Very frustrating.
After installing iOS 17.0.1 counterpart doesn’t hear me, placing calls on cellural network (over speaker/loud/airopds…nothing works). Whatsapp/viber calls - no problems, everything’s working fine.
Yes my iPhone 11 Pro Max have the same issue we cannot hear other people sound during the call
the Salim’s is vey less.
iOS 17 installation crated this problem. iPhone should rectify the software
Thank you! I just turned off mic isolation and will report back.
There is a way to put your phone in diagnostic mode and control it with another apple device doing the audio test fixed mine. I will see if i can find a link.

Having same issue, on 17.0.2 - apple please fix. speaker on phone call goes silent and other party can not hear me either and also when not on speaker it cuts out as well over cellular and on Wifi w another apple phone. Very frustrating.
I upgraded my Iphone 14 plus yesterday i.e. on 7th October 2023 to ios 17.0.3 I am facing following issues:
This all happened immediately after the update.
Seems I have to move back to ios 16 versions.
Thank you,

Ive got the same issue since downloading iOS 17 on an iPhone XR. As iOS 17 is part of the Beta release program I’ve posted feedback on the issue in the ‘feedback’ app. I’d suggest others do the same to help bring this issue to development teams attention.
Wow, that’s great! Someone working at T-Mobile said mic isolation is meant for blue tooth, but that’s incorrect. Other day a senior advisor told me they are aware of mic isolation mode issues and will fix in an update.
If it doesn’t work for you when on a call and using “mic standard mode” , some people mentioned getting into a diagnostic phone on the iPhone and it worked for them. I don’t have a clue how to go about that but if you haven’t tried that yet, I would call Apple and also let them know about this post and all the other people having this issue. They need to solve this for everyone regardless if there are different issues/settings causing this.
This doesn’t work. Nothing works. I have done it all. It’s a bug that dates back for several years after updates across many models starting with the 11. It’s not the case/settings/or network. It’s a bug.
It's unfortunate Apple deleted my post for simply giving advice on how to handle it. Yes, this is an Apple fix and issue with software and or phone. Demand they fix it, direct them to this post with at least 10 pages of same issue. Knowing what I know now, I'd be relentless in my pursuit. They gave me a new phone and still had the same problem. I had to discover the fix myself. Phone is dee fect ive whether in software or hardware or both.
They are deleting my posts as well about the issue. Was your resolution the diagnostic with another iPhone? That is the ONLY thing I haven’t tried yet. Please advise. I’m desperate! My phone is in perfect condition except for the speakerphone bug (and on FaceTime) regular mic when not on speakerphone the person can hear me fine. As well as with Bluetooth through the car or headphones. Other person hears me fine.
I’m having the same issue as well and when using my EarPods
