PAGES Shift+Return Keystroke for soft return no longer working

Wow, this is now January, 4 months past the OP, I just updated my Pages, and now I also can't use shift-return anymore!!!!!!!!!! I've used shift-return everywhere for 30 years! WTF is Apple doing?!@

It seems Control+Return is now being used by Pages as the new key combination for Insert Line Break / Soft Return. What we want is for it to move back to Shift+Return. And sadly the Keyboard Shortcuts settings will not accept Shift+Return for Insert Line Break.

Thought I could just make a keyboard shortcut, but that won't accept "Shift+Return".

Why on earth would they interfere with this? I type in Adobe apps and pages all the time. Now one modifier for one and a different one for the other?!? This is going to drive me crazy.

It is incredibly annoying. Hope they put it back in asap!

What the...? To change a command that has worked for decades for no reason? Beyond stupid.

None of the above works for me. Tried them all. I can no longer make soft returns. So mad!

Apple, fix this please. Shift + Return is much preferred for workflow efficiency.

The Pages documentation still shows shift + enter but in reality, Apple has tinkered with Pages v13.2 and now the soft return is ctrl+shift+enter on a U.S., ABC-Extended, or U.S. International keyboard input type.

I submitted a report. I urge everyone to do this.

Pages is a great app but silly changes like this show the UX people aren't paying attention to their users and changes Apple's mantra "it just works" to "it only works if we get to change your keyboard shortcuts for no good reason whenever the mood moves us".

I agree. Everyone who's posted here should submit the bug report using this link: Feedback - Pages - Apple. It's the only way they're really going to do anything about it—unless they happen to have a regression test that somehow surfaces between now and the next release.

If they did have said test, there's a good chance they wouldn't have made this change.

I find this particular feature really annoying because some apps do SHIFT+ENTER, some do CTRL+ENTER and some do both. It's even worse because the current Mac version of Excel requires OPTION+ENTER to get soft returns in a cell!

But the principle here is that you've trained your users for decades how to do this—and then you change it. There's no reason they couldn't have just added an additional shortcut, because I've never heard of SHIFT+ENTER having any other function than this.

I submitted a Feature Request / Bug Report for Pages. Perhaps if enough of us submit feedback, Apple will take note and give us back the Shift+Return keyboard shortcut for Insert Line Break.

Thank you for the updated shortcut, it absolutely works! I couldn't believe the soft return was changed.

It is so dumb that they've done this.

This is just plain silly. Put it back the way it was. Sheesh.

It's been FIVE MONTHS. How is this still an issue? Apple's lack of attention to Pages / Keynote / Numbers is infuriating.

I'm doing my part. I report it once every week or two, and have been doing so since the issue started.
