Swipe-up no longer shows the same features/functions on Apple Watch after the update

I just updated my Apple Watch 10 to watchOS 10.0.1 The swiping motions on the watch now bring different 'option' panels. "Swipe-up" no longer shows the same functions (battery %, vibrate phone, theater mode, etc). Where can I learn how to control my watch with OS 10?

Hi, I frequently and I mean frequently swiped up on my Apple Watch to see the battery percentage, to ping my phone, turn sounds on and off, etc. Now I have to change those settings by pressing the side button 😞 Is there anyway I can change back to a swipe up to see those settings? I have also turned my automatic updates off, so this will not happen again. I believe this happened when my Apple Watch updated to the new operating system.

What genius at Apple messed up the most convenient part of the watch? I’m so frustrated! I used the swipe up multiple times a day, especially to quickly find my phone, the sound was much louder than the find my iPhone ping sound. As well as checking battery life and turning on the DND feature. If there is a work around for that, they need to give us a better heads up. I’ve been reading through the tips but it’s not helpful for what I want. The update was terrible!

Did you read this thread? All of those features you want are still there. All you need to do is press the flat oval button next to the Digital Crown.

Nope. I’m going to power down and turn on again and see if that works, otherwise im
just going to pop into a store. Thanks for your help. It was just a shock when a feature I used multiple times a day just disappeared and they didn’t adequately address it with the update.

Before you make a trip to the store, try un-pairing and re-pairing the watch. That will generally clear up random little glitches.

The swipe up doesn’t work nor does pressing the side button, Destroyed a very useful function

Swiping up will no longer pull up the Control Center, but I can assure you that the feature is still there. Please explain what happens when you tap the side button. Are you sure you're pressing the side button, the flat oval button next to the Digital Crown? Are you tapping it rather than pressing and holding it?

Using the side button to bring up the functions that used to be accessed via a swipe-up doesn't really bother me. What does bother me is that there seems to be no way to access the functionality that the side button used to provide (i.e., quick access to a user-ordered list of favorite apps). A double-tap on the crown does bring up a list of the most recently used apps, but that's not the same as the functionality that the side button used to provide. Is the previous functionality of the side button accessible in any way? (@BobHarris, you seem knowledgable - not to mention patient - perhaps you know.)

When i press this side button i get the emergency prompts.

If you cannot get the quick press and release timing right, then adjust the

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed.

I have mine set to "Slow". My Wife finds that "Slowest" works best for her.

Adjusting the speed also helps with bringing up Apple Pay, which is a quick double-press and release.

Is someone messing things up on purpouse or what is happenig ? First I got my contacts full gray page on my iphone after update and now this ? Why mess up something that goes well and 99,9 user used this function of swiping up on apple watch to see they’re battery, wifi status, cellular connection ..etc. Why do I have to press a button in 2023 ? Are we going retro with this updates ? This is not normal.

I had to search on google- how I can see the battery in ios 10.2 :) this is hilarious.
