No iMessage notification sound after IOS 17.0.1 update on iPhone 13 Max

This is a super helpful article! Thanks for posting. I had NO IDEA. When did this change? I used to receive notifications on both my iPhone and my Apple Watch at the same time, but not since I upgraded the OS and my phone to an iPhone 15 Pro.

I wanted to let you know this helped my problem. I have tried a bunch of things and nothing worked except this. Some kind of mojo in there - I don't know. But knock on wood, it has been several days now and it still working for me. Thank you for taking the time to post.

Same here. I’ve turned off the Attention Aware feature in face settings. But still have problems when using the phone and messages come in. I don’t know about them. This latest update really messed up.

OMG I went into the Verizon store in NC because of this very issue with my iPhone14 pro and the guy told me to go ahead and get an upgrade. $1000 later I have the 15 pro version and am STILL having the same issue. I am now out of the country and the Bahamas does not have an apple or Verizon store where I can get help or get a rep on the phone.

This is the ONLY thing that worked for me, including getting a brand new phone. Thank you! Between my Mac/watch/phone Bluetooth was messing it all up. Even Apple advisors could not help me and said it was a software issue that's been going on for over a year now.

I see that this has been an ongoing issue since last year and now my phone does not notify whenever there is a text and it is 2024. What was the point of the update if it didn’t fix an issue that has been happening constantly ???

Exactly! The phone should be able to both ring AND connect with other devices.

In addition to combing Community discussions, I've called phone support and been to two separate Genius Bars. The first one said my phone was too old (SE2016) and I should buy another. After I finally did and the problem persisted, the next Genius ran "diagnostics" and said the device could not be replaced under warranty because the hardware was in perfect order.

You’re not alone. Even giving up Bluetooth hasn’t fixed everything for me — today all my sounds were inaudibly low, including Siri, despite the volume slider being at 80%. Then, having missed yet another call, I toggled the silent switch several times and the next ring blasted me out of my chair.

I was intrigued with this..but tried it and it didn't work. I think the person that mentioned that their phone doesn't make any sound when wearing their watch. This could be true..havent taken mine off yet to see. But lately my watch makes only the most subtle noise. oh well...the world of Apple...

Ffs, we have established that turning BT off enables the text tones, but when you rely on your watch as well as your phone it’s no help whatsoever.

this isn’t a bug, Apple in their wisdom created a subroutine of (OR and NOT AND)

I use Iphone12. Was told there was an update available and I needed to update, so I did. Now I don’t receive any text notifications regardless of how I configure the settings. Everything was fine before the stupid update which only breaks things and rarely fixes anything important! When is Apple gonna get it right?
