iPhone 15 Pro won't vibrate on Silent Mode

I contacted Apple Chat Support and the rep was able to resolve the issue for me by going to Settings => Sounds & Haptics => Haptics, and then changing the setting to "Play in Silent Mode". After the change was made, for incoming calls and incoming text messages, my iPhone 15 Pro Max vibrates.

I figured it out.

my previous iphones used the left side button to toggle vibrate mode off and on. This is different from what is now being called silent mode.

in order to enter a vibrate only mode, I just needed to turn the ringer volume all the way down using the volume buttons on the left side of the phone.

if I want to stop all sounds or vibrations, I can swipe down from the top right of the screen and touch the bell to turn silent mode off or on.

Other notes:

in settings> sounds & haptics, I have ringtones & alerts change with buttons toggled to on. And haptics set to always play.

In Settings go to Accessibility and select Touch. Scroll down and make sure than Vibration is on. This will override all vibration settings in the Haptic menu if it set to off

Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Vibration

THIS has to be done FIRST to make ALL your vibrations settings work like they should. :)

I've solved mine b going to settings, general, transfer or reset iphone, and reset. This doesn't reset your phone to sell etc, it just resets the settings I think I messed about with focus and did something, so just deleted them all now hahaha. Hope this helps people.

You have to do a hard reset on your phone to fix this bug. To do that- press the volume up button once, then the volume down button once. Then, hold down your side power button down. Hold it down until your phone completely shuts off. Then it’ll come back on. And now my phone finally vibrates

If you have a Apple Watch and updated to the most recent OS, you will only receive notifications on your watch per support:

This is a new feature from the last software :/

Notifications appear on your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both.

 

If your iPhone is unlocked, you'll receive notifications on your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll receive notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked.

Settings>accessibility>touch, scroll down to vibration and turn it on. For some reason it’s off as default

It seems there are several things, of which the first three have been repeated several times, but the fourth is what finally fixed it for me.

1. Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Haptics > Play in silent mode
2. Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone/Text Tone > Haptics > make sure a haptic is chosen instead of none
3. Settings > Accessibility > Touch > make sure Vibration is toggled on
4. Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers > turn this off

I was getting vibrations from my contacts, but not from other callers. With this setting on, all calls from numbers not in contacts skip all rings/haptics/notifications apart from being missed calls and voicemails.

Same here. After a few calls into Apple, they helped me figure it out. You have to have a a banner set, even though I don’t want one!

Notifications/ messages/ and then tap banners under Alerts. Then messages will vibrate in silent mode.

Apple is aware of the issue and said it will probably be fixed in the next software update.

Try…

settings > messages > notifications > sounds > haptics … choose the haptic vibration you want

Then go back to settings > sounds & haptics > haptics and click you want to always play or play in silent mode. That should fix it

I finally figured this out. Ok you have about 3 areas to check.

A. Go to settings

-Sounds & Haptics

-Change Haptics to “Always Play”

-Scroll Down to the System Sound and Haptics Title and and turn on “System Haptics”

B. Under Sound & Haptics, Go to Ringtones

-tap Haptics

-Pick a vibration

C. Under Settings go to Accessibility

-tap Touch

-Scroll down and make sure Vibration is turned on

Hi try going into accessibility then go to touch scroll down to vibrate if it’s already turned on turn it off and then turn it back on again! And then try! Worked for me I spent an hour and a half trying to figure it out now it vibrates ON silent

I was having the same issue and the only solution I found was to reset my settings. However, after doing this I realized that banners must be selected for my phone to vibrate. See the screenshot of my settings.
