You could try all the same things I tried described in this thread.

Go the scientific, methodical, route - measure everything. Duration, from how many % to how many % battery in that time, take screenshots. Every time you change something, give it a few hours until you're confident it changes either something or nothing. Then switch it back and try the next thing. Yes, this will take days, if not weeks, but keep a record of everything you do and the result. As you can see I built quite a record and detailed descriptions of what was going on, including screenshots of the battery drain at some points (I have lots more but didn't want to spam too much here). In the end I could with absolute (or at least 99.99%) certainty show that the problem was in the phone, not any of my apps, my usage pattern, my charge pattern etc. etc. When the evidence is irrefutable then Apple has no option to swap it. Otherwise they can* keep sending you back into the weeds with "have you tried ...".

You may not have to go this far. Maybe all it takes is a simple call to Apple Customer Support and mention your phone drains like crazy and they'll replace it. I may be the weird one, but I like to come prepared to the battlefield 😝 If you're close to an Apple Store maybe you could pay them a visit (closest to me is a 2hrs drive away) and have them take a look at it (I doubt they'll replace it on the spot, but you never know). If you have AppleCare+ then Apple may be even more willing to replace it quickly or without too much asking. However, you do have a right to a decent working product which you paid (dearly) for. So if the phone doesn't do what it's supposed to do or doesn't function as it's supposed to function or doesn't last as long as it's supposed to last then - in most, if not any, part(s) of the world - you're entitled to (most) of your money back or a replacement. It depends on where you live (I'm in Europe) so your mileage may vary. But I'm sure Apple will be happy to replace it if it's actually a lemon (production error).

Having said that: how long does yours last and could you post a screenshot like I posted which clearly shows a) the green battery usage graph and b) the blue activity graph? If you have any means to measure temperature reliably, like I did, then measure the temperature after your phone being "idle" for, say, an hour (with no apps open or anything) and also, or especially, at times when it's hot. Note down what you were doing what (may have) caused the heating in your opinion. Again: measure, build a record. The first thing you're gonna have to do is define what you mean with "battery is draining hard"; what is 'draining hard' in your book may be 'normal' in someone else's book. Numbers. Durations. Graphs. Cold hard data.

Installed 17.0.3 last night. Charged to 100% + 30 extra minutes, took at off the charger at midnight. It may not run hot, nothing else has changed. Battery is down from 100% to 35% in less than 10 hours while doing absolutely nothing. All apps closed. All my phone did was sit still on my nightstand. Always on off. All apps closed.

This is ridicilous. My 2 year old 13 Pro Max lasted 2 days EASY with (my) normal usage. I am very much not happy right now. Spent €1400 on a pocker heater and now it won't even heat my pocket anymore.

The problem with this "solution" or "test", as many others I've come up with, is that it takes a day or 2 to go through a full cycle. Tomorrow I've had my phone for 14 days and though I'm sure Apple will swap it if it turns out to me a lemon, I'm getting tired of trying all kinds of things. This shouldn't be necessary. It's a €1400 euro device, for that kind of money I expect it to work. Flawlessly. Like all my other phones since the iPhone 3 did. There can be a very complex interplay of factors that cause this issue which can be incredibly hard to debug. But I also don't feel like going through days, or even weeks, of trying to troubleshoot and figure out this issue myself. I've spent literal days by now trying to get my phone to have a decent batterylife and I'm very, VERY, close to giving up, getting in my car and go be angry in an Apple store and demand a swap. Now. Because I'm fed up with it. Nevertheless, thanks for trying to help. Much appreciated.

I've just about had it with this thing. After everything I tried my last resort was factory reset and restore from backup. Which I did yesterday. I know, I know, high(er) battery usage is normal after a restore from backup but I see the same d*mn slopes on my battery usage as before:

This time it was the Segway app taking up 100% of the activity. After I killed it (see the activity bars) at around 10:00 activity went to normal and I gave it a quick charge but battery usage is still insane. Also my phone is warm all day long. And I'm barely using it. I actually AVOID using it. This is insane. It's over 33°C / 91F all day long. With 17.0.3 and a complete factory reset. I'm very fed up and annoyed by now. This has kept me busy for the past 2 weeks.

This thing better be back to normal by tomorrow evening 'cause it's going back to Apple on monday if not.

I had an 11 Pro that is great but because of the promotion with my carrier, I thought, What the ****. Big mistake! I am so angry! Mine is not getting hot just draining the battery right before my eyes. I called and they said the diagnostic check showed all was fine, but I was told to ask for a new phone. I went to my local store which has pretty bad reviews, so I wasn’t expecting much help. The reviews were right. Terrible customer service! The guy kept speaking to me as if this is the first time I’ve owned a phone. Very rude guy telling me they just can’t say something is wrong because I say so or because people on the Internet do, and he said he is not aware of any problems and no one has come in with this problem. I have EVERYTHING turned off, even turned off the 5G like I read somewhere because if there no towers it drains battery searching. Well, what is the point of having a 5G phone if you have to turn it off because the **** phone battery can’t handle it. He kept telling me about hours and percentage as if it was great, but that is with everything off. So if it is draining at the rate I’m seeing with barely any use how the **** will it last the 26-29 hours that they claim. It is ridiculous that they can get away with this. THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING!

If I return it I will lose out on the upgrade and still have to pay a higher monthly due to a plan change with family. Considering of getting the 14 Pro instead. Sad that I have to give up my 11 Pro, battery would be at 70-75% at 10pm . I’m starting to really DISLIKE Apple!

This is happening to me too. I just got my phone 7 days ago and the battery is trash! I took it to apple and they aren’t taking any responsibility for this, saying it’s because I have background apps running? Those SAME apps are running in my 13 pro max and not draining nearly as fast. I’ve also had issues with responsiveness of the screen and it’s frozen/lagged on multiple occasions. I’m taking the phone back and if the issues are fixed with a software update later down the road, I will re purchase. Paying $1500 for a phone that has HALF the battery life of my old one is ridiculous.
