iPhone 15 Pro Max Carplay Issues

I have a 2022 Wrangler with the 8.4" UConnect and I have issues with Carplay and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I did not have the issue with the 13 Pro Max I traded in. But Carplay only seems to connect intermittently. About every other time I get in I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get to connect. Id assume that this is an iPhone issue since the 13 was fine. The 13 also had iOS 17 installed so wouldnt think it is a software issue either. Please advise. Thank you.

I am up to around $100 in trying cables and right now, it looks like I have 2 that work!

I have plugged in and unplugged and turned the engine off and restarted multiple times with each, and each time iPhone 15 Pro quickly launches Apple CarPlay in my 2022 Wrangler Rubicon (8.4” UConnect). This evening I have to drive a 40 mile round trip, so will put each to a longer test.

Both were purchased on Amazon.

Same issue here as well. I have an iPhone 15 Pro that I have to repeatedly connect and disconnect the Apple provided USB-C connector on my 2021 RAM 3500 with the 12.1 Uconnect system before CarPlay actually turns on. Unfortunately I have to perform the physical connect/disconnect >=6 times before it finally takes. Former iPhone 12 never had this issue.

I also have the issue where I can practically start a camp fire with heat coming off the back of the phone.

I have a 2019 Silverado, I'm also having the same problems. I also bought the usb-c adapter from Apple, still having problems. Hopefully they get this fixed soon. This is with the 15 Pro Max. My 14 Pro Max worked great all the time.

Well looks like the car manufacturers are getting sick of receiving complaints … the start up message on my Kia Carnival has changed in the last 2 days. The regular safety message about not using your phone while driving has been replaced by this in big bold writing:

Apple CarPlay and related content are features of iPhone and are not provided by the car manufacturer. If you experience any issues with this feature, please contact your phone manufacturer.

I just came into the thread thinking I was the only one. 2017 Ford Fusion. CarPlay was wonky but worked for a day and now the car will say the iPhone has connected but will not allow either Bluetooth or CarPlay.

as others, worked flawlessly on iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 17

Me too! I’ve got a jeep & a mini and both disconnected while driving! Even if you pull over & put it on the speaker feature! It disconnects as well! Won’t work either way! Traded in my iPhone 12 for this phone & never had problems with my 12! Starting to think the iPhone 15 pro max is rubbish!!!!

This may be working for you but it doesnt work for everyone. I have tried this along with every other thing people have said they used to get it to work and all have failed. You’d think apple would say something by now.

They sent me to higher tech and she tried to help. Basically have you turned it off and back on. She says she calling back today. I did order usb a to usb c cable to see if that works.

I pointed her to this thread showing that it’s happening to many types of vehicles

Mine has been with T2 since day one. It’s been with Apple engineers almost as long. I have pointed out how it’s all over the internet there are issues. I wish they would come out and address it though. Some have said cables fixed their issues but I’ve probably tried 6 different ones now and no joy.

I also have this problem. My 13 Pro Max worked flawlessly in my dad’s 2016 Silverado and now it doesn’t recognize my phone through a wired connection. Bluetooth and charging work still, just not CarPlay.

Yea. Odd isn’t it. On the forums there is a guy that his and his wife’s work flawlessly were others don’t. One guy has had two replacements and they didn’t work either. Seems to be no rhyme or reason.

I have a new iPhone 15 pro and have the same issue with my 2021 jeep wrangler. Using the usb-c cable that was in the box with the phone. Takes about 2 to 10 unplug and replug to get it recognized. My old iPhone 13 Pro running the same iOS worked flawlessly. Ridiculous.

Talked with my rep yesterday also. He says the same, "It is with the engineers and they are going through the logs." I am not going to hold my breath that they ever fix this. Some are saying they are blaming the vehicle manufacturers for it not working. From that logic, it would be a lot of manufacturers considering how many different brands have issues. I keep wondering if I should just trade it in for a 14 or keep waiting. I also noticed yesterday, when I get a call while CarPlay is working, it doesnt right through the vehicle. Any other notification does but not calls.

Spoke with rep Tuesday as well with no help. But my brother has a 20 wrangler sport with 15 pro max and hasn’t had any issues. Could it be the rubicons having the problem?

my usb a to usb c cable arrives today. Hope that solves it. My phone has been really hot when charging & now I’m seeing ppl having screen burn in issues

Mine is not a Rubicon and I have issues. There is another guy on the forums that his and his wife's phone works flawless in their Jeeps with the Apple supplied cable. So there is no telling what is causing all the issues. I can say another guy on the forums has also reset his phone and set it up blank and it still had the issue so that rules our 3rd party apps. I noticed yesterday, when I get a call while in the Jeep, the ringtone will not route through the system. All other tones will just not calls. The call itself works fine. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason how this is working the way it is.

I too cannot connect my new iPhone 15 ProMax at all with my car. No Carplay, no audio, no phone, nothing. I spent a long time on the phone with an agent who told me that the auto manufacturer should update their software. HUH??? My 13 Pro Max never had a problem. Plus I have updated IOS to 17.03, no change. My older SE, with no sim, connects with no problem. APPLE you can do better here. Please.
