Find my Airpods in “Find my” app

The “Find My” app said my Airpods were last seen in June at MY HOUSE. It is now September. I tried using the “Find” button to find it but it keeps saying “Searching for signal” “Try moving around”. Below the word “Find” is Nearby. Is it really nearby?

Note: I literally walked around my whole house and try to get under some spot to “get it to connect”

Some Thoughts:

A. Use Siri:

Open Siri, and then say something like "Locate my AirPods". Learn More Here: How to use Siri on your iPhone - Apple Support

B. Verify these are Genuine AirPods:

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find the Serial Number of your AirPods - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.
  3. View the Results: If all shows up as an AirPod, then you are fine. If not, then these are fake, and that is likely why you are getting the issue of connectivity.

C. Troubleshooting Find My on an iPhone:

Be certain Find My is set up correctly.

1. Set Up: Set up Find My On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac - Apple Support

2. Add: How to Turn On Find My for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

3. Use: Locate a Device in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

About AirPods and Find My:

If Find My was enabled with these, then note that the local shown is based off of the last time the device they were connected to that itself was connected to the Internet. This is because AirPods are not assigned their own IP Address.

OK, so what's the device these are paired to? Is it still pared with these? Go into the Bluetooth settings on that device, and see if there are seen. If it is an iPhone, then clear the cache, seeing if it is no longer seen. To do that, rid of "System Data" (Formerly named "Other"). Any difference?

"So if I have the option to 'Find' my airpods, is it nearby? or no"

Perhaps.

Let's ay they were paired to an iPhone. Leave it connected to the Internet for the day, with it covered on. (No one says you need to have a phone with you). So, next time you go to work or school, check the location using another device. If they show up at home, then that is where they are, beyond-a-doubt (because the phone is power on).

"So should i still try to find it in my house? When I click on the Find Button. It keeps 'trying to search for signal', even when I try to move around my house (holding my phone)"

"Trying to Search for Signal"

If nothing is seen, then they were never paired --or you unpaired these, and haven't paired them to a device since. It's looking for a paired device (because the AirPods are not assigned an IP address). But, if that paired device is not nearby, then it is not seen.
