I updated to iOS 17, and one of the first things I noticed when turning my phone back on was the little "SOS" in the top corner. I checked my cellular settings and my eSIM was gone. I'm currently trying to see if my carrier can restore it, but it seems like an Apple bug that I'm asking my carrier to patch up.

it looked like my eSIM number had disappeared after the ios17 update (as I’ve been using a physical sim for a couple months abroad). So I went to Settings > Cellular > Sims selected the eSIM and turned it on. After that, things started working.

It’s not a physical sim. Title says eSIM. I have same problem. My physical sim is fine. eSIM has gone since update.
I updated to iOS 17 today and my eSIM has disappeared after that!!
I would not have have updated if there had been any warning that the eSIM will get affected!

iPhone 14 Plus, 5 months old. eSIM just died. Carrier store & I tried EVERYTHING. New eSIM wouldn’t install. Ended up getting another phone.
Did anyone have the same issue when you updated to IOS17.2.1? After I upgraded to the last vision and turned the eSIM on, my physical SIM didn't work and was without any service. WTF?
What brilliant guy provides this ****** vision for customers?
FIX IT!!
We are on our 2nd device that did this. I have had numerous devices. But an iPhone 11 shorted the cellular and noticeable option as we did not do Apple care. One would think we would have put Apple care on the replacement 12. But how often would frying the cellular happen. Low and behold. Another dead phone.

The workaround, while true - does not solve the problem. Given that even after applying the workaround, iOS will again report the eSim is not available and you're in SOS mode. Again apply the workaround.
This is not a long term solution. Why is the OS "forgetting" to eSim setting on a regular basis
After working with 4 service folks at Optimum for over 2 hours, the last advice was, “it’s not our fault, it’s a software problem in the Apple update.”
APPLE needs to put out a FIX NOW!!!
Randomly, an hour later... eSIM works again... No intervention required, I guess.

Updated overnight to 17.4.1 and neither my iPhone 15 or watch work now. I’ve talked to ATT tech support, I’ve been into the store. Neither can do anything
